Which Value Resort, Spring 2020?

I am planning a trip for Spring Break 2020, last week of March. We will be traveling with my family, DH and two kids, age 14 and 11. And my sister and her two kids, 13 and 9. It will be my sister's family's first and probably only trip (single mom scraping money together for this one trip). I want to make it as perfect for them as our first family trip was! This will be a "value price point" trip. I will need two rooms (not willing to do family suite), and I know they are not guaranteed to be, but would request "near" each other. My dilemma is which Value resort?

My first preference would be POP but the Hippy Dippy Pool is scheduled for refurb "Winter 2020". Pool will be important to us. Do you think it is possible a pool refurb would be completed by the end of March?

I definitely want a refurbished room for the queen beds! This leaves us with All Star Movies. I've read that the refurb is currently on hold there. I guess I could surmise that if the refurb picks up again there in the next few months, that it should be complete by next Spring. If so, I would choose ASMo.

My ideal criteria would be refurbed room (queen beds), two rooms near each other, and no construction going on at the resort.

I know it is pretty early to be debating, but I thought selecting a Value resort would be easier than this is turning out to be. I want to be able to book packages for that time frame as soon as they open, because I know it is a busy season and I need two rooms for the same dates. What considerations would you guys have for this decision? WWYD? Thanks!

Pop is one of our favorite resorts and would always be my top pick for a value. I have no idea when the pool refurb would be done, but Pop has two other nice pools (the Bowling Pin pool is our favorite of the 3). At Pop you'll also have easy access to the food court at AoA, and the skyliner.

Pop is also one of my faves. However, there's no timeline for how long the pool there will be closed (however I quite enjoy both the Bowling Pin and Computer pools).

The only of the All-Stars that I've stayed at is Sports. Movies is about halfway refurbished in terms of the rooms with no timeline on when that will pick back up. So even if you book there, there's no guarantee that you'll be in a refurbed room, and there's no way to guarantee that you'll be in a resort that doesn't have any construction going on (as, who knows, they could have picked up the refurb plan again by then).

I'd probably recommend Pop even with the pool refurbishment just for the sake of knowing you'll be in a redone room.

I'd still pick pop because of the beauty of the resort and the access to the skyliner. The other two pools will be just fine. You could also plan some time at a water park if a pool experience is that important.

We have a 3 night stay there starting 3/7/20. Got an email that Hippy Dippy pool is scheduled for refurb at that time. There weren’t any Preferred Pool View rooms available for that time... because no HD pool.

Btw... rack rate for 3 nights w/tax was $659. That’s $21 cheaper than a single night in a Standard room at Beach Club.

POP is first to come to mind, followed by ASMovies, then ASMusic (also getting a refurb). However, if pool is really important, have you considered AoA in a Little Mermaid room? Rooms are not refurbed, but newish and well themed. I can’t remember the size of the beds (probably full). The rooms are a bit of a hike from the food court, but the main pool is awesome. Sometimes (rare) LM rooms are discounted, but not as often as the other values. You’ll also have the skyliner for POP or AoA.

I always vote for Pop, after many good experiences there over a number of years.

Do you have any boys in your group? They may like All-star Sports. I've stayed there, Pop, and Music. Of the three, I like Pop and Sports the most. My son chose Sports for our trip in June. He's 11! :D
