Which value resort for February 2017?

We are going February 15-22nd. We usually stay in a family suite at AoA though the rates are just too high for this time of year. I was thinking of staying at Pop since we could still walk over to AoA to go to the food court, but I just read that it is starting to go under refurb in October. I have stayed at AS Sports during a refurb when the food court was closed and never would do that again. It doesn't specifically say what is being done except for the pool, which should be done by February.

Where would you stay? I have 2 daughters ages 5 and 6. We have stayed at all the AS resorts in the past.

I'm no help because I've only stayed in one value, but what about upgrading to a mod? Price would be comparable to what you're used to paying with the AoA family suites.

That is a good thought.
We stayed at POR once and hated the bus service because of the multiple bus stops so hubby is anti mods from now on!

I absolutely understand that. We very much hate the bus system and always have our car and stay at MK resorts, so we'll never be at the mercy of Disney transportation. Hours of our vacation have been wasted in the past by waiting for them, so now we cut out the middle man.

I know that the rates for next year are higher, but i honestly would say go ahead and book the type of room you want at AoA and hopefully Disney will put out a deal for your dates a bit closer to it. Hopefully you would then be able to redo it for the cheaper rate and stay where you are most comfortable.

When it comes to the Values, I always recommend AoA before the others. If a suite isn't in the budget, what about a Little Mermaid standard room?

The room only discounts come out in Sept I think. It's odd to cross shop the suites, pop, and not consider the moderates. Coronado will be your least expensive moderate, and has the fastest bus routes to AK/HS/EP, similar to All Stars. Two queen beds instead of 2 doubles. Food court is burgers and made to order Mexican.

I would still stay at Pop. If they are just refurbishing rooms, chances are you won't even notice.

Thanks for all of the responses. Coronado is listed as "unavailable" for our dates. Not sure why.
We are used to going off season in January, so these prices are much higher than we were used to. I actually have to wait until August to book as I have a CM friend who usually gets me a room and those discounts are not available yet. I guess I'll keep reading and then decide in a few weeks. I think we will likely still end up at Pop as long as the food court isn't closed.

Pop is renovating rooms, one building at a time. Unlikely you would notice. Go Pop, go!
