Which TS restaurant should we cut?

Teppan Edo is a Family tradition... I love it...

It's traditional Hibachi...I miss Teppan Edo so much...I went out to Hibachi with DH tonight... but it didn't measure up to TE...(IMHO)...

We had a table with little ones and it was fun to watch their expressions and excitement... They were probably 4 & 6... just let the kids know when the chef is going to make "Fire"...so they understand it is not a surprise..and totally in control.... to this day DS18...who has been to WDW 10 times will not let me plan a visit without TE....

"Ohana is a Semi family tradition ...BUT for Breakfast only...so why don't you plan to go back to breakfast there sometime...

Good luck with your decisions and I don't think you can go really wrong either way...all your choices are Great! (Just of the ones you want to cut..I don't think of 2 of them as very "kid Friendly" and you may want to even make sure if Remy is around during your visit)

I just have to speak up for 'Ohana- my family and I LOVE it there. We have never had anything but great service, the food is delicious and IMO the dessert is the best one in all of Disney! Plus the atmosphere is fun for kids and it's nice to walk out to the Poly beach for Wishes after.

Personally, I would cut San Angel Inn, Chefs and Rainforest Cafe.

I love tepan edo, and I think the kids, would too. now, I would cut Sci-Fi.. the food wasn't good at all. It was fun to eat in the cars, but the cheesy sci-fi movie clips will go right over the kids heads. (actually, the whole concept of a drive-in theatre will go over their heads.)

This is a great tip. Thank you.

I think this is what I'm planning to do.

We've actually been once before and the kids loved it. We definitely like it more for the atmosphere than for the food. I've heard better things about lunch than dinner so that is what we are going to do this trip. We have taken the kids to our local drive-in. They think it's great to sit in a car while eating and watching a movie!

Thank you everyone for your advice!

I think your kids are at a great age for the "games" at Ohana. My 2 year old :lovestruc it. The 9 year old played along, but said this year she would just sit out. (I convinced her to get up to help her sister.) We are going twice to Ohana this trip, DH's only request. (I don't really want twice, but, that was part of the bargain of buying DVC was that he could go there twice, at least this year!)

I'd cut San Angel Inn, the reviews are mixed and it's very dark in there.

Def do Ohana, it's brilliant for kids and the food is great.

I would cut the Rainforest, the Sci-Fi, and Chefs de France.

The Rainforest is fun, but I think with all the other themed restaurants you have booked, you wouldn't miss it.

Sci-fi's food has a bad reputation, and I think you pay too much for burgers and fries.

Chefs de France because it sounds like you're not crazy about the menu.

O'hana is our favorite restaurant at Disney! Everyone in our family loves it. They will bring out kid food options if you ask, and they have the best dessert ever!

I would cancel Rainforest - a chain with ok food. I would also cancel Coral Reef, but that is just based on my family's experience there. We had to wait over an hour to be seated (with ADR) and the food was so salty it was inedible - but we did have a great view of the tank. We have not tried San Angel, but based on the almost universally bad reviews, I would cancel that one.

Wow! Lots of different opinions here, huh? Guess I'll add mine.

I'd drop Teppan Edo, just because we have 3 really good hibachi restaurants in our area that we can go to whenever we want. If you have one you really like at home, TE probably wouldn't be anything special. I didn't really LOVE Ohana, but it IS fun to go to the Poly and have a meal and look around at the resort! I also really liked San Angel Inn -- it really is a GORGEOUS place to have a meal.

Like another poster said, you can't really go wrong -- all your choices sound like fun, and just like any other trip -- you'll have a "worst meal" and a "best meal". I hope you find some new favorites!!

I'd ditch San Angel Inn. In my experience the food has been poor. You can certainly experience the atmosphere by wandering around in the pyramid and going on the ride.

Ohana was wonderful! Yummy! My little kids enjoyed the activities too!

RFK---nothing special about the one at Disney. I find the whole atmosphere to be "over the top" noisewise. Not too relaxing:confused3

San Angel Inn---in a word "Yuck":scared1:

Sci Fi---only because the seating is so odd based on the size of your party.
The food is OK, though.:wizard:

There sure are a lot of opinions (although I knew to expect that :goodvibes). It's fun reading what everyone has to say. It's great that WDW has so many different attractions, resorts, and restaurants. There truly is something for everyone. One person's "bottom of the barrel" is another person's "diamond in the rough".

You did put things into perspective. We can't go wrong.

I can only give one that I would cut. Some I've never tried.
I disliked Sci-Fi.

Teppan Edo was great!

OP, are you sufficiently confused now?:lmao: everyone has a dif. opinion!
since your kids DO know what a drive-in movie is, than maybe you would like sci-fi. (we, also went for the atmosphere, not the food. the food was so-so.)
coral reef: we found it you get the first ressie at lunch (ipening, you have a better chance of getting seated in the first tier, by the tanks) . the blackened catfish was too spicy for me, so the next time we went, I ordered it "lightly" balckened...but you can get it not blackened at all. hubby liked the Mahi Mahi (I thought it was pretty tasteless, maybe that's why he liked it!:rotfl: sorry, nebo)
again, we were there for the atmosphere.
san angel was def. too dark for us. when we went with kids (many, MANY years ago,) we ate at places that had a dif. experience than we could get at home.
have fun, and when you return, please give us your reviews!!!

... drinking coffee live from the BCV in a beautiful 1 -bedroom :) Today we will be at Norway for breakfast with an Ariel costume, followed by dinner at the Garden Grill.. :) .. inbetween we will ride Soarin, hug and ride Soarin again.

Anyway..
Teppan epo with younger kids takes too long (Even 5 or 6). Food isn't wow. Very few choices. Beni Hanna is WAY better, actually my favorite rest. Jap Steak houses are my fav food across the board, and we skip this one about 1/2 the time because of the food. No fried rice, bland chicken. There kids menu is less kid friendly than most rest. I am disappointed with this nearly every time. ....I keep going back though.. :scared1:

Sci fci lunch ESPECIALLY and AK rain forest you could pay for off dining plan both are really reasonable in price. Especially with all the kids, you could get 2 items for 3 people and you would be fine. I bet you average less than 8$ a person sharing, going with water at either of these. Look at the menu and prices. Especially Sci Fi, I went with hubby and dd5, (we shared) got waters i think it was less than 25$ inc tip. The LIberty Tree lunch is really budget friendly as well.. Dinner.... not so much $$ friendly.

Also we make 1 extra ressie. The last day of dining plan go with Sci fi, and we can always keep 1 extra one and pay for it, and incase you do not feel like going one day we don't end up with an extra ts left to rot. Doing that makes you feel like crying ... trust me I have done it. Sometimes DD is tired, or we are hungry 2 hours before TS and cannto get in and have to use a QS.

I'm so glad that you shared a little bit of the magic you are experiencing today!

Thank you for the advice about Teppan Edo. I hope others who have taken kids similar in age to ours will chime in too. We do have a Benihana nearby. We have never been, but we could definitely make the effort to do so.
