People keep talking about the filets coming off the menus. I was wondering what restaurants are confirmed to no longer have filets?? From what I read, it is Kona and Artist Point. Can anyone tell me more restaurants? Just wondering for our trip next month!!

Thanks!

Artist Point never had a filet on their menu.

I can't see what the fascination is with a filet of beef.. especially at Kona.

Kona has the world's best prime rib, try it, it's better than the filet!

We visit Kona each trip and I've never been disappointed with the prime rib.

I am getting tired of all the filet threads, I've seen like five or so in the last day. I believe Artist Point used to / still does have a filet on it's menu.

. . . I am getting tired of all the filet threads, I've seen like five or so in the last day . . .

1) I feel your pain.
2) People buy DDP/DxDP and expect anything expensive they want to eat.
3) It doesn't work that way.
4) For the DDP reimbursement, the Food Manager still has to make a profit.
5) The DDP was invented for WDW profit, not as a gift to guests.
6) The guest gets to pig-out, regardless of food quality or uniqueness.
7) That is what most guests want and that is what they get.
8) It is no wander that menu items are disappearing or getting dumbed-down.

NOTE: I was in Rose & Crown Pub on Monday-8/11/08 at 3:00pm, and witnessed a weird one. I spent about 45-minutes while waiting for the wife to view British Invasion in the UK rose garden. A guy and gal were arguing that the cheese plate and several beers they just finished should be covered under their "snack credits". They went on-and-on until the bartender threatened to call Security.

I don't think the dining plan is the only cause, if it's a cause at all, especially now that it's not as great as it was just a year ago. With the exclusion of the appetizer and tips, I don't think it's a money saver, since it's about the same OOP, unless someone spends a lot of time figuring out how to get the most value, and I don't think most people do that. Even then, I think it only saves a few dollars.

ETA - That's crazy about the people arguing that the beers and cheese should be a snack credit.

It's a cause, almost certainly not the only cause, but it IS a cause. Whether the appetizer and tips are included, or whether they aren't, it contributes greatly to the increased popularity of the restaurants and the need for WDW to supply those restaurants.

If you are tired of it then SKIP the thread.

I for one am greatly interested in it. I like Filets they are my favorite food. No, I don't want the prime rib I am picky and all that fat on a piece, gross. I need my meat soft and pristine with no visible fat. It's how I like it. It is my vacation and I will eat what I want so if a restaurants takes it off their menu it means that I need to make an ADR somewhere else.

I haven't been to Coral Reef since they took the filet off of their menu.

I agree with you 110 %! I love filet's and only eat fillet. I am a picky plan eater. It's steak or macaroni for me. Borining maybe to some people but not me. So show me the Filet's :worship:

If that were the case, I'd get the DDP for every trip! ;)

It is just Kona confirmed so far. Can we lay this one to rest already? :upsidedow

I agree!!!

ITA!! Couldn't have said it better myself!!

I don't think it's the filet discussion so much as the fact that there are so many threads with the exact same topic...it gets exhausting.

Exactly, it's not the topic of the discussion that's annoying, it's the fact that there are so many threads about basically the same topic.

I do, obviously. Actually I was just pointing out that even though he often has good information his posts are difficult to read, which is annoying

I agree with much of you wrote, but sort of take exception to "The guest gets to pig-out, regardless of food quality or uniqueness. That is what most guests want and that is what they get."

The DDP, for $40 a day, provides one TS meal, one CS meal, and a snack. That's not exactly "pigging out". We don't pick the most expensive items on the menu -- we pick out what sounds good, what we've seen recommended here on the DIS or other boards, or items that are specialties of that particular restaurant. The break even point is $25 for TS, $10 for CS, and $3 for a snack -- not hard to do at all, especially adding in beverages and desserts to the entrees, which we would order OOP anyway. If our meals cost that much, the DDP has paid for itself; anything more than that (also not hard to do) is a savings.

Filets are great, I love them too, but there are so many other things to choose from! I wouldn't want a filet at every single restaurant, every day of vacation -- I'd be so bored. I'll probably order the mushroom filet at LC, but maybe short ribs at Chefs de France, fried chicken or pot roast at PT 50's, probably chicken or fish somewhere else...

It is amusing to me that there are so many threads expressing upset that filets have been removed from the menus at so many restaurants, but then so many OTHER threads complaining that all of the restaurants have no variety and are all serving the same things... :rotfl2:
