Which touring option would work best?

1) Heading down next week and it will be the first time we are going with a kid. My son will be 21 months. I have scheduled everything to begin about 2pm in the parks after lunch and naps so we will have a good 5-6 hours in the park each day with him depending on how it goes. Dh and I were talking and were thinking maybe doing the morning from 9 - 10:30ish and then heading back around 4 or so for dinner and like one ride. Taking crowds and heat into account which option would be the best.

2) Do the parks normally go full capctiy around this time (next week)

Thanks!

If I understand your question correctly, I think (1) 9-10:30-ish am and back again after 4pm is far superior to (2) beginning at 2pm for the day.

From 2-4 pm, you face the worst heat and largest crowds of the day. You will have the shortest waits of the day between 9 and 10 am.

And yes, I'm sorry to say that parks will be very full next week. They shouldn't reach capacity levels (that only happens at Christmas/New Years and Easter, occasionally July 4th week), but they will be crowded (and steaming hot) nonetheless.

I agree with the pp of going in the morning first, then leave for the hottest part of the day, naps, rest in the AC. Then go back fully rested. If you haven't been with your child yet, you may not know how they will react. Disney is stimulation and some kids get over stimulated really quick. After a couple park days, my DS would get cranky early in the evening, even with the afternoon break. We realized he needed more down time, so a ride or two, then stop and have a snack, etc... You know your child but heat and kids usually don;t equal fun times. Have a Magical Trip. I love seeing Disney through my kids eyes. pixiedust:

I would not enter the parks at 2pm next week with a 21 month old. I wouldnt go into the parks at 2pm in July with my 13 and 9 year old, heck not even me. the heat will be terrible. I would go early and leave before lunch, and come back much later in the evening.

Capacity is generally reached Christmas/New Years, sometimes at Easter, and around the 4th of July.

We have taken our boys many times through those ages. I would also vote morning, rest, night. We always kept the kids up, out and busy at night in the summer because the humidity becomes almost bearable and the crowds are more tolerable when theFlorida sun isn't roasting you. Mid afternoon in July is a tough time to be in park.

I wouldn't necessarily plan on an in room nap as we've found our kids never wound down enough for that. However, an AC'd drive around town equaled nap every time.
