The cast me, DH, DS3, DS5, MI, FIL, BIL, SIL, nieces 8 and 12, nephews 9 and 13.

I was planning on H&V because it is a buffet, which is good for my kids, but I we are already doing Chef Mickeys for dinner and Crystal Palace for breakfast. Granddaddy is not a big fan of buffets, so I was thinking maybe Mama Melrose looks good.

Any suggestions?

I think you only have 3 choices, Hollywood & Vine, Mama Melrose’s and Hollywood Brown Derby. As it was short notice booking for me I took what I got, so ended up with Hollywood & Vine, never been so no idea what it’s like but I would have picked Mama Melrose’s but the party size (8) was to big to find any dates during our trip.

Though H&V was a good choice in OCT. :Pinkbounc

H&V gets consistently good reviews but you couldn't pay my family to eat here again. It was really awful. We must have been there on an "off" night. Next time we're trying Mama Melrose.

We really thought H&V was awful when we went in August. We're trying out Mama Melrose in January.

Done this yesterday, Hollywood & Vine is a great choice for the Fantasmic Package, my only problem was I wanted to eat more but my belly couldn't take the food abuse I was giving it LOL ;)

We always dine at Mama Melrose, whether we are doing the package or not. It's one of our favorites. :goodvibes

We've done MM and H&V. I love both but my DW and DD like H&V better. More choices.

Mama Melrose I have dinned at also the last time, and I enjoyed that also. I can't say I really liked one over the other, so I say you’re in safe hands no matter what one you go for. By the way Mama Melrose was my first choice but couldn't get it on any day of my stay, but I am so glad I tried something new as that's how you find other great places to eat.. One day I do the Brown Derby as that gets a good write up.

I would vote Mama Melrose. If you are not picky eaters they have really wonderful dishes. If you are picky, maybe the kids, you can order flat breads with all sorts of things on them--even plain cheese. The desserts are killer!!

P.s. if you go with the Fantasmic pkg. you are more limited with your choices.
We went without the pkg., showed up just minutes after they started letting people in and found alot of seats to choose from. It eventually filled up but there seemed to be plenty of seats right up until the show started.

I seem to be in the minority, but we tried HBD and loved it. The service was excellent, as was the food. It's a little pricey, so I'm not sure I'd do it again, but it was worth it to do it once. The kids liked it, too -- even though the 2 yr old slept through it. ;)

I just decided to go with a Fantasmic Package yesterday for next Thursday and we chose H&V. I just like the look of their choices much better!

We ate at Mama Melrose for the Fantasmic Dining Package last Tuesday, Nov 22. It was the best meal of the trip. I think it topped Le Cellier as best of show for our trip last week.

Lots of yummy food and the service was probably the best we had all week too (in which we had several good waiters).

We ate at H&V in October, and I was very dissappointed. Granted, we are not big on buffets in general, but I found the food to be of very poor quality. I was surprised that even the desserts were unappealing. I'm not a picky eater, but I ended up paying way too much $$ to eat chicken nuggets and mac n' cheese (and that was lukewarm at best). When we go back next month, we'll be hitting Mama Melrose instead!

Went a month ago. Originally had reservations for H & V, but got nervous because of all of the negative posts on this board. (I went there about 3 years ago and really liked it, but that was a long time ago!)

So we went to Mama Melrose's instead. It was great! The flatbread pizza appetizer was delicious. All four adults in our party chose something different (sausage & peppers, chicken/penne pasta, salmon, and something else I can't remember!) and all were very good. Was nervous about the dessert, because I had read you couldn't pick off the menu and they only offered tiramisu (which none of us wanted). We were able to pick any dessert on the menu.

Our server was also great, very friendly and responsive. All in all, a great restaurant!

We are not buffet people, so H&V would be out. MM is one of our favorite restaurants so that would be our choice. We also like BD a lot but I think MM would be a better choice for your group--more selections for the kids.

Haven't had a problem with H&V yet, above-average buffet, food has always been fresh when we've eaten there...have a picky family, every one finds something to eat.

Another vote for Mama Melrose here :goodvibes

However, we did not do the package as we are not big eaters and we went at a low time (the week after Jersey week).... we walked into Fantasmic and got great seats about 30 mins before show started

We did H&V and you couldn't pay us enough to eat there again. Food was awful, buffet was messy and where did our waitress go? We did BD last time and LOVED IT! Best meal we have had at WDW. Will be doing it again this time. Wonderful food, great waitstaff, and great atmosphere. You could actually hear each other talk -- I know hard to believe! My kids loved it and it was on my oldest DS's must-do list this time.
