Hmmmmmmmmmm I can't seem to wrap my head around this one so I thought I write it out. DS is 9 -so child ticket this year. Last year with disney rewards I brought him a 7 day expiring ticket, which he did not use. This trip is the last trip he can use with it (Nov trip). I believe we will be hitting parks 5 days. He has a GAD ticket, I believe I will use it for fast passes the last day of our trip. Everyone else I believe will be getting a 10 day non expiring ticket adult ticket using the GAD ticket as a discount for it. We have a trip also for March (spring break). We could use DVC discount for DS ticket.

So we either use 7 day ticket for Nov trip lose 2 ticket days (parks 5 days)
Buy another ticket for March then -adult price now 5 day $228
total 228 + ticket increase

For this trip use his GAD ticket towards a 5 day expiring child ticket $195 - GAD(80)= 115 then next trip pay $34 to change child ticket to 7 day adult
total 149

Upgrade his 7 day to 10 non expiring ticket today price $419 - 210 (his current ticket)
total 209

Upgrade his 7 day ticket to annual pass $344 - 210 (again current ticket)
total 134.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm we will not travel again back to disney before the annual pass would expire. So he would get two trips out of it. I don't have how many park days figured out for March trip. Do you see any other ideas?

I think you can take your kid and ticket to guest services, and they'll turn the tix into an over 10 ticket?

Since they way you have figured out the costs, the AP appears to be the cheapest, I would buy the AP and use his GAD pass for fastpass tickets one day.....

If it is really the least expensive way, it wouldnt matter if you only get the two visits and not get back before it expires.

If you haven't figured out how many days you will go to the parks in March, why are you already planning on 10 day non expiring tickets? What if the March trip ends up being 6 days in the parks, and you have to buy a one-day ticket? Will the savings be work it then, vs a 5 day now and a 6 day then?

If he used the current 7 day ticket on this trip, and you made it a 10 day non-expire, when he got back in March he actually could use it without paying to make it an adult ticket. From the ticket thread, "Disney does not penalize children for growing older. If you have a partially used child's ticket, and the child is now 10 or older, you may exchange the child's ticket for an adult ticket with the same remaining entitlements and no charge."

Now the total on that might not make sense. But definitely check it out, IF the 10 total days for the two trips would make more sense!

With the DVC discount annual passes are cheaper than 10day non-expire tickets. You can redeem the GAD and use the value of the one day ticket making them even a better deal. I did this and worked out to about $330 for the adult AP.

The 7day ticket could also be upgraded to an AP, it will be good all year even after his birthday. You wouldn't be able to use the GAD value on that ticket but that option would probably cost less immediately.

If you want to use the GAD voucher for the child's ticket and save the 7day for another trip in the future it could be upgraded to an adult ticket at that time - I believe this would be a no cost upgrade as they'll account for the age of the ticket and the age of the child.

For our trips we normally go into the parks 4 days a trip, normally we do MVMCP and have a separate ticket for that. So the 10 day ticket could be enough for 2.5 trips. March trip is the 20th to 26 and it is at the beach club so if the parks crowds are bad we will happily swim and do other things maybe even a day at h potter land. I have some tickets left that have hopper days left on them. I thought might as well buy some ticket with the GAD discount and use some rewards towards them-it will be the cheapest way to get tickets for us.

I think the rule with the child ticket it musted be used at least once as a child ticket then be upgraded. It doesn't matter that it was bought him he was a child it must be used at the age group. So I believe I must use it at least once this trip and then make it a nonexpiring before we leave to get to keep it for later use.
