Hello everyone,

I'm considering buying a tablet, but there are so many to choose from. I'm leaning toward the Samsung Note 10.1 (2014). Which do you own?

I would really appreciate any opinion you can give. Thanks!

I love my new Microsoft Surface. :lovestruc

I bought the removable, back-lit, full sized keys, keyboard for it and it feels just like typing on a laptop or regular keyboard.

It comes with Office which I love.

I replaced my outdated Samsung with an iPad mini. But I bought a Samsung for my dad. Like them both, frankly. Chose the iPad mini because most of my music is on iTunes.

I've used a number of tablets. As with most things it just comes down to your personal preference. I'm a firm believer that a tablet is only as good as its app store. As all the applications that tablet can run are going to originate from that app store, unless you're comfortable rooting/jailbreaking or you buy a Surface Pro (which I wouldn't actually classify as a tablet). Think about what you'll use it for most and google search the top apps and see what tablet they're on.

We have 3 Notes, 2 iPads and 4 kindle fires in the household.

The Notes are superior in most ways, especially for our college age kids in school.

The iPads are around just for a few apps that we want that still have not made it to Android. Love the kindles for streaming Amazon prime, but they are inferior in other ways, most importantly that Amazon limits what you can get at the play store.

I highly, highly recommend the Note.

I have the Surface as well and love it. We also got DD one to use in college and she really likes that it has Office since she has a PC.

I don't have one, but my tech obsessed son has a Nexxus 7 (2013) that he adores.

His opinion is that the Note you are considering is "gimicky" and too high priced for what it is. He says the soon to come out Sony Xperia Z 2 would be similar specs without the gimmicks and higher price tag.
(just in case you want the input of a 15 year old)

Funny how everybody has their own preferences. :goodvibes My engineering major/techie loves his Note so much that he bought on for his engineering major girlfriend for her birthday. They both swear by them.

I will have to check out the Sony as I am in the market for a new pad.

Funny how we all have our own likes :thumbsup2 We were talking about that in our house recently; we all four have different laptops and all like our own much better than any one else's :rotfl:

Wow! All of your opinions & suggestions are really helping!

My wife & I both have Samsung Galaxy s3 phones. With regards to sharing pictures, music, messages, etc with the new tablet... do you think it would be any easier if we bought one with the Android system?

I have 2 blackberry playbooks love them... Also have a couple asus android tablets and the younger kids have some cheap RCA android tablets. Had an iPad but HATED that thing.

My wife and daughter both have Ipads.

I bought a Microsoft surface on black Friday. I do not like it at all. I should have bought myself an ipad.

Love my Surface. I don't use my laptop at all anymore. We are big Microsoft lovers here- we have Surfaces, Windows phones, and installed Windows 8 as soon as it was released on all of our PCs.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (Android) and a Samsung ATIV Tab 7 (Windows 8). The Galaxy Tab is great for reading in bed, or taking to doctor's visits with my granddad, but since it's an Android tablet, it's not really functionable for school. The ATIV is a full windows computer (Win 8 takes some getting used to, but I really haven't found it to be as horrible as people make it out to be), and replaced my 17 inch laptop for school work ... and dropped the weight of my book bag by 3 lbs! It's got a detachable keyboard similar to the Surface, but unlike the Surface models it's included in the price, and it runs full Windows 8 which the Surface Pro also does, but the regular Surface only runs Windows RT, which keeps you from running a lot of the Win8 apps.

It really depends on what you need it for. The only thing I would say is don't buy a cheap brand. My stepdad does that, and he's been thru 5 Android tablets in the past 2 years because he only buys the cheapest ones he can find. I take good care of my electronics, they last me years. That 17 inch laptop I replaced? It's 7 years old and still works fine, just needs a new battery. So I don't mind paying more for good quality, because it is cheaper in the long run.
