I've finally decided to upgrade to a smart phone, but will be staying with T-mobile so the iphone is not a possiblity. I've been researching the android phones till my head is spinning, so decided to bring the question to the dis.
I know some of you have android phones, please give me your recommendations to help me with my decision.
Thanks everyone, I just need a little input as I can't seem to make a decision.:goodvibes

If you're looking at something with a physical keyboard that is great for texting, look at the newest Sidekick 4G. It runs on Android and has an AWESOME keyboard. Otherwise, check out the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant and the Vibrant 4G. I have the Vibrant and love it! I think to get the full Android experience, you pretty much need to go with a higher end model to avoid lag and be able to use all apps you want.

Thanks, I do want to be able to text easily, but also would like to have some of the great apps that people love to have.

I had the MyTouch and currently have the HTC and really don't like either one of them. I am probably going to sell them and just get myself an iPhone, its been on my wish list for a while.

Reviews on Androids are all over the place, people love them, people hate them, that's why I came here to the disboards to find out from people who have them.

I have the mytouch and love it. Does everything that my sister's iphone does.

Thanks, that's good to know.

Guess I should have given a little bit more of information...but was running out the door before. The MyTouch had a lot of the apps I liked, but specific ones that I wanted, were not available. Also the interface was different and found that it was not as user friendly....maybe if I had never had an iTouch (which I ) I may have been happy with it. As for the HTC, not a lot of apps either. I did read that you can download software to get other apps, but I find it a little too sensitive at times and it just dials a number or hangs up when I am speaking to someone. If you are not going to use it for many apps, I think I liked the MyTouch slightly better. One of my coworkers just bought an HTC and he will be using all the window apps on it, so I am waiting to hear how he likes it for work purposes.

If you can wait about a year, you can get an iPhone when AT&T completes the purchase of T-Mobile.

Are you serious!!!!

We have T-mobile for our cell phones ...love them.
We have AT&T for our land lines...dislike them intensely. Just my opinion, we've had not very good dealings with AT&T even though we've been with them for years.

I do need to upgrade right away to keep up with my kids, they're text of course, and my current phone is not text friendly...it's the old 'hit each number till you get the right letter', slow and painful. It's time I catch up with new technology. lol

I love T-Mobile and hate AT&T, too. What are you going to do if the purchase goes through?

I still use my Nokia 5190 - the first cell phone I ever got back in 2001. I've replaced the battery twice and have one spare to go. I'm not looking forward to having to switch if AT&T takes over.

I don't know!!! Ugh, I dislike switching things around but if AT&T takes over, DH and I may have to switch to another cellphone provider, perhaps Verizon. Just not sure yet, right now I'm just hoping the purchase doesn't go through.

I am hoping the purchase doesn’t go through. I have T-Mobile and love their service but hate AT&T. I am in an HSPA+ city and have great coverage and T-Mobile allows me to tether my phone without paying extra, send calls over WiFi, and they don’t skin all their Android phones to the level the other providers do.

I have a MyTouch 4g and love it. I use very few apps. The only ones I use regularly are all native Google apps: The browser, Gmail, maps, and navigation.

Thanks Frank, I'm glad you weighed in on this. I am leaning towards the My Touch, and just hoping the AT&T-T-mobile buyout doesn't happen.

At least, if you have to switch to Verizon, you'll still be able to get the iPhone.

We bought Samsung Galaxy S phones last year. Got a great deal via NewEgg for $50 a phone! We switched to ATT from TMobile because ATT was cheaper. We had been with TMobile for years but they could not match the ATT plan price. :confused3

We have a Captivate I think the TMobile version is a Vibrant. There are some slight differences between the two. The differences did not matter for us.

The 2.1 Android on the phones last year has been greatly improved with 2.2. Battery life was on the low side with 2.1. The GPS lock one was slow as well. In Android 2.2 these "issues" have been fixed as far as I am concerned.

When we bought Amazon had great prices. Then NewEgg really dropped the price. So shop around.

We have been very happy with the phones and wonder how we lived without them. We have used the GPS to get us to WDW as well as more local trips. The phone has been great. We did use a Disney line App last trip which was nice. Did not use it a lot but it was nice to have it when we needed it.

Later,
Dan

I have had a Google phone since they first came out years ago and have a hard time switching to anything else. I use the G2 now and have had it since December and it has been my favorite phone to date. It even has the pull-out keyboard for texting if you like that sort of thing. Whatever you do, get the 4G phone so you have the ability to tether.

Thanks for the input, DH and I have lots to 'talk over'.

I read recently that Apple is going to sell unlocked versions of the iPhone for T-Mobile, but it's very expensive.
