any great recommendations on a stroller for our upcoming Disney trip? I have a 5year old girl. I would need to take it on the plane with me, and we will have a rental car as well. My 5 year old still sleeps in the day, so I would think something that somewhat reclines. (although who knows if she will sleep at Disney, plus we *plan* on gooing back to the hotel during the afternoon for sleeps.

Thanks everyone!
Stephanie

My 5 year old still naps when we are at Disney too. She's big for her age but her Mac still works just fine for Disney naps

But I would still suggest going back to the room to nap in the afternoon. We found that afternoon breaks meant WAY fewer meltdowns and she was able to stay up for fireworks and later dinners.

We use two Maclaren Volos. Our kids are comfortable in them, they're easy to push, and they fold up like an umbrella stroller with a shoulder strap which was nice for the busses (although you will have a car).

The volos do not recline, but the next step up (Triumph, I think) has a more plush seat and reclines. Our kids never slept in them. We do go back to the resort for several hours every afternoon. We all need the nap. ;)

You can find new ones that are reasonably priced on ebay. I've bought 3 from one seller and have received them within a week of ordering. We "test drove" them in BabiesRUs to see which one we wanted before buying.

Our umbrella stroller died on us last summer and I thought that DS(4) was old enough to go without one...then we decided to book a trip to Disney this May. I KNOW I definitally want a stroller for a trip that can get tiring for little legs... I didn't want to spend upwards of $100 for a good name stroller, and didn't want to buy a cheap Walmart stroller that he wouldn't fit in... so...
I scoured our local classifieds, Ebay and Craigslist for second hand, good quality strollers...
I hit the jackpot when I came across a woman who lives an hour away, selling her Combi City Savvy stroller... it is in perfect condition and is exactly what we needed... The way this stroller folds is wonderful and it even has a carry strap... We agreed to a $30 price tag.. I'm sure this stroller won't get much use after we come home, but it will be invaluable while we're there.. and it was definitally cheaper than buying a new one, or even renting a stroller at the parks!!
Good luck!

Good job!!! Good price and the carry strap is key for the buses :thumbsup2

You will definitely need a stroller even if you don't use one at home. We tend to park it in one general area and then go back for it when we are done that area but I would much rather bring it then deal with the meltdown when she gets tired and wants to sit down.

my fave is the baby jogger city mini you can get one for just under 200 w/ free shipping some places have had some really good sales one them but several of them have gone out of business. You could also use a cheapy for the airport and rent one from www.orlandostrollerrentals.com . check out their website and or www.babyjogger.com and watch the video. the super quick fold is awesome and I currently use mine daily w/ my 5yr old and the push is so much better than my mac techno it even pushes awesome w/ my 8yr old in it. the sun canopy far exceeds any other stroller out there and no need for any add canopy.

Can I vote for a sticky thread titled:

"Stroller Recommendations from DISparents"????

I swear there are five of these threads going on just today! :rotfl2:

I vote for the Mac Volo too! We just got back 2 weeks ago and I bought one right before leaving.(lime green striped!) It was very easy to push and to carry it with a strap if needed. Just alittle tricky closing it, but I was so used to my Aria, that I'll just need to practice more. My daughter is 4 1/2.

This is exactly what we use and I second the break in the afternoon. It's the best way, IMO! Your DD is a DOLL, BTW.

Another vote for the Volo. My DS5 really likes his. No, it doesn't recline, but he still manages to snooze in it!:thumbsup2

We have Maclaren's here and we love them!

ETA: We have a Quest Sport and Twin Techno.

Would you use a stroller at home? Do you have to have one on the plane in the airport? If not, try to find a stroller swap on the budget boards, or rent one from Orlando Stroller Rentals. I think it's crazy to spend even $100 (which you would have to do for one that would carry a 5yo) on a stroller that you won't ever use again.

I'm even doing a strolle swap for my DS(almost 3) because our current stroller won't last much longer and I don't want to have to buy a new one when he won't be in it for too much longer. We are taking our cheapo umbrella stroller to get him through the airport and using a double stroller swap (one side for storage), $10/vacation to use in the parks.

Saving lots of $$, saving my stroller, and gaining some storage space while we are touring :)

We bring regular reclining stroller or any stroller we're your DD is comfortable with it. :thumbsup2

We love ours as well! We have the Quest for DS who is one and Volvo for DD who will be five in May. These strollers are such a great investment because they CAN hold up to fifty five pounds. Perfect for an older child so you get your moneys worth out of them. They fold easily and compactly and are lightweight. Just a great stroller!!!!

We have a Triumph also and love it. :thumbsup2

We just broke down and bought a brand new Combi Cosmo (ex? dx? can't remember anyway...) it folds up twice and saves a ton of space. It's super light and fits kids up to 50lbs. I  it.

I think DH will appreciate it and it reclines back so I know DD1 will enjoy at "the world".

Have fun!

I have had the combi's before even though they go up to 50 pounds once the kiddos reach about three they don't fit in it anymore.

We just got home Sunday from DISNEY. For
my 5 year old daughter i used a chicco umbrella stroller i bought for about 60.00 online. She fits great in it and it rolls easily with her in it, she also slept in it . I actuall left my stroller at Disney in my room at the Boardwalk Villas because we are not planning to go back for a few years and we won't need it anymore.....i have used this stroller for her since she was 2, it is sturdy and folds up great and has a strap to carry it, also comes with a rain cover. here is a link just incase you are interested.... http://www.target.com/Chicco-C6-Str...owse=1038576&rh=k:lightweight stroller&page=1

I liked it because it holds bigger kids and still rolls great.

I bought a Perego P3 for my niece who was 4.5 yrs last year when we went to WDW. It was great. Loved all the features. It's bigger than the Maclaren's but it also looked more comfortable for my niece. She really liked the large sun canopy.

I bought mine from www.albeebaby.com
