Hi

I'm just about to book our first cruise so could do with some help.

We're going to do the 3 night cruise in August 2006- 4 of us; me hubby & 2 kids (will be 12 & 6).

I'm looking at cat. 5 or 6 but maybe could stretch to cat 4.

Is cat 4 much better? Also, can anyone recommend any specific staterooms to try to book?

Thanks

You would be gaining a few extra feet plus an additional bed if you go with the cat 4. You could then have it set up so neither child needs to sleep on the bunk bed. But if your 6 year old is anything like my 5 year old, they'd love the bunk.

As for cat 5 and cat 6, you're basically getting the same room, just one floor up (mid ship rooms). We had a cat 6 in January mid ship on deck 6 and it was fine. Very convenient to all the decks being in the middle (up/down).

If you can get a cat 6 that sleeps 4, I'd save the money. Just my opinion. You can use the savings for an excursion or to pamper yourself and/or you husband in the spa.

Hope that helps.

There are sites with lots of info on this, to help you out...

I would reccommend dcltribute.com

I would surf around there...ALso on the top of this forum, there is a stateroom option, if you click it, it could bring you to a great description...

Like the previous poster said, cat 5 or 6 is only a different location....A cat 4 has the extra bed, thus a few extra feet...I would most definitely agree with saving money, and going wiht the cat 6....

YOu should look into where other things are located..Such as the kids club on deck 5, pools, buffet, snack bar, ice cream all on deck 9, restaurants mainly on deck 4....This could help as to your best deck level....

I personally LOVE deck 6 or 7...I almost never have to take an elevator..There is a laundry room on both of these decks, and it is almost midway to everything....Up 2 or 3 floors to swim, down to or 3 to eat....

That is my experience...I also LOVE to be aft...

I hope this helps a wee bit, and if you have any other questions, do not hesitate as.... :disrocks:

its our big dilemma too. we ended up in a cat 4 for our first cruise since fla rates came out and we upgraded. when I rebooked onboard we went with the same room again. Now after talking to a TA she said if you only have 4 people why are you paying almost $1200 for the room. she went on to say the cat 6 would be fine. so Im toying with the idea of changing categories..
