I need your advice and knowledge again. Is one side of the ship better the other? I am ALWAYS warm- so I would prefer to be on the cooler side. Also- I know NOTHING about technical terms like starboard, aft etc. Can someone please familiarize me with all the ship terms so I don't look totally STUPID!!!

right is Starboard, left is Port (the way I remember is each port & left each have 4 letters).. aft is the back (after) and forward is the front just the way it sounds.

I was very directionally challenged when I was onboard, I couldn't remember if I was supposed to go port or starboard when I went back down to deck 7... I always had to read the signs.

We stayed on the starboard side as I wanted to be able to see most of the ports we pulled into and I really wanted to watch us pulling into Castaway Cay...... next time, I'll try the port side. I can't tell you which side is cooler, because all I wanted to do was sit in the sun and keep warm, we had to go back to 3 degree temperatures. The A/C works wonderfully in the cabins, in fact we had to turn ours up, so it wasn't as cool.

Facing the front- right side is starboard, left side is port. As for cooler, I really don't think its an issue. If you mean direct sun then I guess if you're traveling south, then the starboard side would have morning sun and the port side would have afternoon sun. Traveling north the port side has morning sun and the starboard side has afternoon sun. Kind of like how the sun shines in on one side of the plane window when you fly during the day.

A bit of history. The word POSH comes from early sailings from England down to Africa. It stood for Port Out Starboard Home. Back in those days there was no air conditioning and the cabins that had that were the coolest and most comfortable so they were the most sought after (and thus more expensive) cabins.

In this day and age of cruising you get a wonderful experince! We've done both and they are equally great!

On our Feb 1, 2004 Wonder trip I was in a starboard cabin (right side) and my brother was in a port (left ) cabin.

He was always complaining about the sun on that side of the ship and his room was always warmer...........

Thank you Billinaz- that helps me decide I want the starboard side of the ship!

And there are not any elevators on the ship. There ARE "lifts". Just don't stutter when you talking about the elevators in the back of the ship (you know, the "Aft Lifts";) )
