Which should I choose? GF or Poly?

Ok, so I see another poster posted this topic also, but I'm hoping to get some responses!!!

I happened to obtain several Disney Vacation Club points that can be used at the Disney resorts and on the Disney Cruise Line. I obtained these points at only $5 each which is a steal! We have decided to do a 4 night Wonder Cruise with them, but before that we would like to try out the GF or the Poly. By using these points it is only going to run a little over $200 a night for a LAGOON VIEW! So needless to say we feel this is a wonderful opportunity to try either one of those resorts!! HELP!

Here are a few other things you might want to know:
*We will be staying four nights at WDW and then doing a cruise
*This will be our first trip alone to Disney (we've always brought people)
*We love having a great view from our room!

We have stayed at the Grand Floridian 5 times since '95(most recently 12/00) and loved it each time. Twice we have stayed in a lagoon view lodge('95 and'97); the first was great, the second paled in comparison to the main building concierge level which ruined us forever in '96 so since that's all we've done. We have nevr stayed at the Polynesian so I can't compare. To me the best thing about the GF was the completely total change in atmosphere from the parks....the feeling of being transported back in time to a different era as well as a level of luxury we had never experienced (of course we'd never pay the price anywhere but Disney.)

Do you really want my opinion again? LOL ;)

My vote is for GF. You already know my reasons... great views, closer to the castle, bright colored rooms, 2 great pools, 5 great restaurants, romantic, nice for couples, etc, etc, etc. :)

Where are all the Poly people?? Erika and I were sure this thread would be taken over by POLY lovers LOL!!

What is a lodge tower room? Is it more than the regular room? IS it lagoon view?

We stay at both and if I had to decide right now my vote would be for the GF. It is convenient, luxurious & elegant. It is perfect for couples as I find there are less children, espically if you stay in the main building. I love walking into the GF after a day in the parks there is so much to do if you just want to walk around the lobby or go to the beautiful pools. I think you may find the info you are looking for at the top of this forum, it is called resort FAQ, you will find links to the hotels there. Hope this helps

Nikki - The lodge tower rooms are not lagoon view. We had one in Sago Cay and it overlooked the marina. We were able to see Space Mountain if we turned to the left, but not the castle. Basically it's a regular room with an extra sitting room on the end with a 2nd TV, couch, table, 2 chairs, and door to the balcony. Unless you're on the 5th floor then there is no balcony.

Stick with Conch Key! ;)

Grand Floridian it is!!!

I've stayed at both and would vote for GF, especially for a couple. I wasn't crazy about the Poly, it seemed dark & old.
