Which secret porthole room is best?? 5520 or 5020.
Thanks for any advice.

Pam

We're staying in 5520. I really wanted 5020 (but it was already booked) because looking on Barb's site, that room looks as if it has less obstruction in front of it. But any porthole room will be great IMO.

5520 is the same as 5020 just on the other side of the ship .....
and i believe the view to be equal would try for one of the 2 mentioned ... but if u can only get one of the other they r ok also....

We were just in 5520 and it was fantastic.

The only thing you couldn't do was look directly down at the
water.

I would have gotten it again for December...but it was already gone.

We had 5520 - it was a fabulous room. Would try again for a SPH if I have a chance to cruise again!

We have 5020 for April 2005. I picked that one because I thought it had the best view. If 5520 is the same maybe I should try to switch because isn't 5520 port side so you can see the islands you're pulling in to? Please help.

I would think that 5020 and 5520 would have the same type of view, on Barb's site if looks as if the photo of 5520 was taken closer to the porthole and at a somewhat downward angle, so it just looks more obstructed in the shot.
I think 5520 would be better just for the fact you have a nicer view of Castaway Cay when the ship backs in, as it usually does.
I have 5020 for my cruise next Sunday:D

Does anyone know if the SPR on the Magic have the Steamer trunk for storage? I think some do & others don't. not a big deal for a short cruise, but needed for a longer one if 4 people in the room.

5520 on the Wonder did not have the steamer trunk.

We managed just fine without it, although we only had 3 people in our cabin. We did have a fair amount of luggage, since we spent 3 days after the cruise at Disney.

Some of the things that helped us - we moved the life preservers under the bed, which increased the closet space we had available to us.

We also brought our own hangars, which helped to keep the clothes organized too.

Also, our 9 yo DD, loved the upper berth. When she was in the room, that was were she hung out, along with her "stuff." She didn't have much of her stuff cluttering up the room.

Does 5020 also not have the steamer trunck? That came in handy on our last cruise. And also doesn't the Magic come in backward at CC? Last cruise we were portside and could not see the Island. This time we are 5020 starboard sp? and I know we cannot see St. thomas and St. Maarten but was hoping we could still see CC.

A secret porthole room is a cat 10 inside state room that still has a porthole. The view is slightly obstucted but, if you are on a budget and would like a porthole without paying for one it is great. There are only 6 on each ship thou and 4 of them are adjoining. I have heard these can be quite noisy sometimes. The two that are not adjoining are 5520 and 5020. If you are interested in one I suggest you book as early as possible because these are about the quickest rooms to go.

I have 5520 for the May 19th 2005 cruise.

Can anyone tell me what the sleeping configuration is? I saw someone post about the upper berth?

First time cruiser so don't know what you mean - is that like a bunk bed configuration? One upper and one lower and then one queen bed?

Kathleena,

We will be in 5520 on May 29, 2005. Let me know what you think of it.

Pam

I booked 5020 for the cruise on May 29th, 2004...and I can't wait to be able to tell people what I think about that room...until then, I'll just :Pinkbounc be impatient!

Mickeylovr,

how funny, I was originally booked in 5020 for the 1st weekend in June and then we changed it to the 29th and got 5520. What a small world. I am sure we will be bumping into each other a lot. Do you have kids?? Mine will be son-14 and daughter -10.

I just went and edited my post, Pam...because I just realized I'm a year ahead of you (that crazy leap year tricked me--thank goodness it only comes by every 4 years!!!) So, unless I'm extremely lucky, I won't be crusing with you!!!
