Which Room Type???

We're going "Home" for the first time in November. We currently have a ressie for a studio at SSR, but are thinking of spoiling ourselves with a 1 bedroom at either SSR, OKW or BCV. We've had a tough year and are really looking forward to this vacation! We don't have kids and could definitely make due with the studio. Having not yet been in the actual rooms yet, we're not sure if it's worth the extra points though.

Should we go ahead and splurge for the 1 bedroom or stick with our studio?

When we purchased DVC, "making do" was not what was in our minds. If you have the points, I would get the 1 bedroom and enjoy! We refuse to stay in studios anymore even for just the two of us.

It has been said here numerous time but once you stay in a 1 BR it is hard to go back to a studio. The add-on bug might bite and you will need more points to stay in a 1BR all the time.

My wife and I always take a one bedroom for ourselves. We planned our DVC purchases for this. If you "splurge" now remember that you will need to make it up later.

You will have fun and relax either way.

Even if it were just my DW and I, we would probably get a 1BR unless completely strapped for points.

The ability to have one person get up earlier, go in another room to read, watch television, make coffee, etc without disturbing the other is a very nice comfort. We use the same philosophy in reserving a 2BR when we bring our two DD's. Having that living room area dedicated to non-sleeping activities makes the vacation much more relaxing, IMHO.

If you can handle it pointwise, I'd splurge. But, as others have pointed out, it could very well make going back to a studio difficult!

We're an example of that happening! Decided once that we deserved to "splurge", just once, on a 1 BR. Now, the only time I see a studio is on solo trips. For two people, a 1 BR is perfect. For us, it's mostly because of the 2 TVs. That way, DH can watch all the sports he wants, and I can watch the WDW propaganda channel over and over, or the DVC channel when I want a change!

DH and I were just talking about this. We're staying in a studio our 1st trip because we want to save up points for a big family trip in '06. Also a friend who has DVC told us once you go 1BR you never go back and we want to make our points last so we can take more frequent trips.

We are at BWV, stayed in studio first year (2000) and next yr when no studios avail stayed in 1 bedroom and have not gone back to a studio. We never go for a PV, prefer to use pts for the 1 bdrm. . forgot to add just the 2 of us but we love all the room and breakfst area ..
