Which rides might be too loud for a noise sensitive person?

I have read lots of threads about rides to avoid for those prone to motion sickness, but can't find anything when I search for rides that might be too loud for someone with noise sensitivity.

I honestly hadn't thought to ask until I read a review someone posted that mentioned the volume for Kong was way too loud for their taste.

It's not like a hyper-sensitivity to everyday noises, but one of my teenage boys does tend to get a headache after some movies in the theater where the volume seems excessive (such as action movies with lots of explosions). It certainly wouldn't deter him from riding something he really wants to try -- but it might help if we can avoid riding a couple of high-volume attractions back-to-back.

Teenagers can be cranky enough ... I don't need one with a headache, too.

Though an attraction, not a ride, Terminator is loud. Also, the ball shooting place in the Curious George area is loud. I have a child with sensory quirks so we bring noise reducing headphones when we remember. I can't remember how loud Transformers is, my sensory sensitive child won't do it. It is very sensory-busy compared to some of the other rides.

The loudest rides for me are definitely The Mummy, Kong, Men in Black, and the queue of Dr. Dooms fearfall.

Everything else is either fine or just sounds like a movie theater.

Check out some of the custom molded earplugs; in case he is self conscious about wearing something larger.

Almost all of the simulators at Universal were too loud for my taste, and I do not consider myself noise sensitive at all. Kong was the worst for me, I actually held my fingers in my ears for the entire ride to muffle the sound. If you have someone noise sensitive, I would recommend ear plugs of some kind. They won't block so much that you can't hear things, but will muffle things enough that it doesn't give you a splitting headache.

You can print off a guide from the Disney site (designed for Autism spectrum) which includes what can be expected for each ride - I have it ready in my folder to help my DGS who has Sensory Processing Disorder as one of his challenges.

Great idea! We are talking about a teenager -- so I know he would appreciate something that doesn't make him stand out.
Hiya,

I can highly recommend Mack's Hear Plugs. Admittedly they're a hell of a lot more expensive than the little foam ear plugs, but they do a great job of reducing the volume without muffling things.. I wear them to gigs and it's just like they've turned the volume down, rather than leaving it all fuzzy and dull. Should work wonders on loud rides.. :)

EDIT: Actually, they're $12.62 at Walmart. Apparently we get stiffed for them over here in the UK!
