We are driving in on May 9th and probably won't get to WDW until around 4:00. We didn't get tickets for that day since we're getting in so late. Anyway, we're staying at VWL. Any suggestions for dinner? It's 3 kids (11, 11 & 9) and me so, I don't think they'd want anything fancy. Just something good, relatively inexpensive and fun to get us in the "Disney mood" (it doesn't take much for that!! haha!!)

Thanks!!! Kim

What about Whispering Canyon? That way you are not too far from your villa, can explore before and after your meal AND its a fun place to eat!

Not eaten here myself but based on where you're staying and what you're looking for I'd say Whispering Canyon too or you could get the boat over to the The Contemporary and eat at Chef Mickeys - that really will get you in the Disney mood - character dinner buffet - I've eaten here and I really enjoyed it. I lvoed the soup and the salads oh and the parmesan mashed potatoes were scrummy :)

I would take the boat from WL to Fort Wilderness, explore and then have dinner at Trails End Buffet. The prices are UNBELIEVABLY reasonable, and the kids will enjoy the petting zoo, and other activities.

Whispering Canyon isn't really inexpensive, and if you have had a long day of traveling and the kids tend to be cranky, the volume of the place may not be exactly how you would wish to spend your first evening.

Relax and take it easy over at Fort Wilderness!:)

I would also say Chef Mickey's for your first night, always a good start to you vacation.

Also we usually try to get over to DTD or the Boardwalk on our first night, so you might even want to pick a restaurant over in one of those spots.

After dinner you can take a stroll around DTD or the Boardwalk. Maybe Rainforest in DTD or Spoodles in the Boardwalk.

you are arriving at the perfect time to see the hoop dee doo revue! you have to have to have to see it! Just hop on the boat and ride over to FW.

Thanks for all your suggestions! I'm not sure which one we'll choose, but I appreciate the ideas! We haven't been over to FW before, so that might be cool. Thanks again!

Kim

Trail's End was my first thought, too. Another idea might be Kona at the Polynesian. You could take the boat from WL to MK and then hop the monorail or the launch to the Polynesian. A nice walk to the GF and then back to the MK via monorail or launch would offer more magic if you have the energy. You can also just walk to the TTC from the Polynesian and take the WL bus back.

I vote for Whispering Canyon. Make sure one of your children asks for the ketsup.

Since your all driving down. I wouldn't make any firm plans and just play it by ear. There is no point in paying good money for a show or a nice dinner if you can't really enjoy ir because your exhausted.

Have a great time whatever you decide to do.
