Ok, which restaurant would you buy a one day park ticket to eat at? I am planning a 1 night visit to AKL, but hadn't planned on visiting any of the parks since we will be checking out Universal Studios instead. However, on a impulse :rolleyes1 I bid and won a 1 day park ticket on ebay (well, I hope it's legit) so now am thinking I'd like to go to Epcot to ride soaring one more time and maybe eat at Tutto Italia since I've never eaten there? I'll either add the dinning package to my room or pay out of pocket. If you were in my shoes, were would you go???

Hmmm, I would say have to say France at Epcot. It was the best meal I had the last time I was down on the dining plan. They offered a prefix option for the dining plan so that you were able to get soup for a starter along with your entree and the dessert. Most other places don't offer a starter when on the dining plan.

Epcot has the best sit down park dining. Even their quick service blows the other parks away.

I say go to LeCellier at EPCOT & head to Olive Garden for better Italian food :rotfl2:

Yeah... weHEARTmickey has a point. Tutto Italia is pretty generic compared to all the other Epcot dining options.

Oh no, LeCellier isn't available for my date - but the thought that Tutto is comparable to Olive Garden isnt good? I'ts been years since I ate at Chefs de France? Gosh, what to do now???

I'm sorry! :confused3 My point was that I would hate for you to waste a WDW meal at Tutto when we didn't even like it as much as Olive Garden. I'm sure some people love it. We are eating at CdF for the first time this year. I've always wanted to try Biergarten also. Are resorts out of the question?

I wouldn't buy a ticket for full price to eat anywhere inside the parks but instead would eat at a resort. However if I won a ticket like you did, I'd definitely go to Epcot and eat at a favorite there.

I don't believe that the DDP can be added to a one night stay and if you could you would have to buy a ticket as part of the package, so clearly OOP is your only option.

DH loved the meal he had at Tutto last Sept. (I was under the weather and didn't eat much.)

I would go to Epcot and eat at Coral Reef. We had an excellent meal there in May. My second choice would be Rose and Crown. But honestly, Boma at AKL is hands-down my all time favorite and the favorite of DH and my 2 daughters as well! I joke it would be worth a plane ticket down there just to eat at Boma!

I would never buy a ticket to solely eat, but since you won it, that changes everything! I guess I'd have to say Les Chefs de France for the best overall experience.

I don't really have any. Of course, I'm not quite as experienced as others on this board ;). (For all my knowledge about how Dining Reservations work and the math being the Dining Plans... I've only been once in the past 18 years (previous trips were a bunch until 1992 (when I was a kid), then 2009).

However...

Depending on when you're going, keep an eye out for the Via Napoli and Hacienda de San Angel reservations too. They're both slated to open some time this fall and if they coincide with your trip, they may be nice choices. Just a different thought :).

I can remember begging my parents to go to Tutto (well, it wasn't Tutto yet, but I simply don't remember the name... this was 1992 I believe) because I liked spaghetti. We went, and out of all the fancy stuff, I had spaghetti and meatballs :p. I think I did the same thing on an earlier trip regarding San Angel too, except I had tacos or something plain. Looking back, I really wonder what I missed out on. (I guess that's why my next trip is mostly about the dining huh).

You can add the DDP to any length resort stay (up to 14 days, as that's the max for a single package), but yes, you would have to buy another ticket through Disney in order to add it so it may not be a good idea at this point.

I definitely would not go to Tutto. My cjhoice ffor one place to eat in the Park would be Bistro de Paris upstairs in the France Pavilion. They do not accept DDP and they do not have a children's menu.

Thanks for the heads up on Tutto. I've sort of fantasized about eating there, since I've never made it there, and now am having 2nd thoughts. I'll only have a half day to use my "ticket" at one of the parks, so Epcot probably makes the most sense.
I would walk over to BW and eat at Flying Fish.;)
Thanks for the suggestion

well, it wasn't a free ticket, but I did save a few dollars, I just hope it turns out to be a real ticket:eek:, I have no idea why I bid on the ticket - it was an impulse!

I'm staying at AKL on rented points, so yes I can add the DDP without having to buy another ticket.

I agree Coral Reef is one of my favorites, just wanted to eat somewhere I hadn't eaten before.

Ok, another vote for CDF

However...

Depending on when you're going, keep an eye out for the Via Napoli .
wow, I hadn't heard of this new option, I will keep an eye out

I would be leary of the one day ticket that you "won".
I am already leary - what was I thinking, keeping my fingers crossed that it is legit!

I'm going to go check out their menu right now!

I love Chefs de France... always make a point to stop there! I would suggest Boma , also, as it's not in a park but at the resort so no ticket required! We ate there for the first time last September and loved it.

As several pp have said, I wouldn't spend any money for a park ticket for the dining. Even with a cheaper ticket, I still wouldn't eat in a park, especially staying at AKL--it would be Jiko all the way for me :goodvibes But if I wanted to eat at Epcot and couldn't get into LeCellier, I'd choose Chefs de France.

I just wanted to add that we had a fabulous experience at Tutto in April. My cannelloni was WAY better than "olive garden fare" (I'm Italian, so I've eaten in a LOT of italian places cause that's usually the only place my grandparents want to go). Not only was my cannelloni delish, but the server we had was so extremely attentive and really nice to my 2 year old son specifically. We never felt like he was ignored just cause he was a toddler, or that he was an annoyance. Instead, our server entertained him by drawing a mickey on the table in front of him, and teaching him to say Mickey in Italian. :goodvibes

Just my two cents and a different perspective.

We ate at CDF also, and while it was good, I wouldn't say it was far superior or anything.

To me, the reason I avoid Tutto Italia is that if I'm in a place where there are restaurants with cuisine options I don't ever get the chance to eat at home... I'll go with the new and different things rather then the common for me. I mean, here there is an Italian restaurant on ever other block and I think I have at one time or another eaten at every one. Why do I want to go to an Italian restaurant on my vacation when I could got to an Italian restaurant at home? I ate at Tutto once cus I was with my hard to please grandmother that doesn't like anything different then what she eats everyday or has a hissy fit. Once was enough.

Someone mentioned Boma. BOMA IS AMAZING! My number one restaurant on property! If your ticket turns out to be a fake and you don't wanna spend the money on a real one day ticket, go back to the hotel and eat there cus YUM

If we are talking Epcot dining places that I don't think have been mentioned yet just to get an over all view of your options... I have eaten in China (good but nothing to write home about), Morocco (really enjoy it there but it's menu is not for everyone), and England (again good, but I wouldn't write home about it. the fireworks viewing it great though). I've heard good things about Germany and Tokyo. Heard pretty poor things about Mexico which is I think why they are reworking the place. Heard nothing about Coral Reef though I ate there YEARS ago and I think I liked it. I can't recall that meal well.
