Which restaurant or theme night to skip for Palo?

What is the most common choice among veteran 7 day cruisers as to the restaurant or theme night to skip in order to go to Palo? DW is not a particular adventurous eater, so that could also be a consideration in our choice.

Doctor P,
We just got back from the western on Saturday...you are in for a "Magical" time. We ate at Palo's on Friday night which would have been our 3rd dinner in Parrot Cay and the "It's a Small World" menu. We had late seating so we made our ressies for 6:30 at Palo and then went to our regular dinner at Parrot Cay with the kids...I just had coffee while the kids ate. We loved our servers so much that we didn't want to miss a night with them. This worked out great for us. If you get to Palos, you definately will want to order the chocolate souffle for dessert....it is to die for!!!
Have a great time!

Check out the menus on www.dcltribute.com and go on the night least appealing to you. We had the 2nd 8:30 dinner time...so we chose Palo at 6pm on our scheduled night in AP because that menu was least appealing, but we didn't want to miss the LIGHT SHOW they do, so after an incredible 6pm dinner at Palo, we went to our regular 8:30 seating and got appetizers--DH also got dessert. Don't miss the brunch and high tea at Palo either...they are all 3 wonderful!

So if you go to dinner at Palo's early and then the late dinner with your family, what about the show? I know we don't want to miss Disney Dreams, but what about the others? We are going on a 4 day in July.

We are going here in a couple of weeks. The plan is to go twice also. We have the early seating, which is 5:30 for us. Take DD3 to dinner and eat something light. THe plan is to one night also make a late ressie for Palo's while dd is in club. That's the plan, lets hope it works out :)

We enjoyed Palo's for dinner on our first two cruises and if I had to skip one regularly scheduled dinner I would skip Parrot Cay on any night you wish (just doesn't work for me, a little to kitschy). But if you want the best of both worlds schedule your Palo reservation on the opposite of your regular seating. Better yet go for the best part of Palo which in my opinion is the Brunch. I've also heard great things about high tea but we haven't made it. Don't fear, just skip a few lunches before you go and when you get back, it's all worth it!!! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Palo is only available for dinner on the 4 day cruises? Is that right? I wouldn't want to miss a show for an extra dinner either. I'll just have to take a 7 day cruise to catch all that I miss.
;)

Palo is available for dinner every night on every itinerary. In addition, on the 7-day cruises, a champagne brunch and high tea is available on sea days.

Thanks for the advice. Any other opinions??

If you don't like dressing up like me, here's the game plan I'm using when I go in August: I'm going to get my dining rotation switched at APLAPLA. That way, Lumiere's falls on both the formal & semi-formal nights (monday & Thursday). Then, we will make reservations for Palo's on one of those two nights, so we still only have 2 nights to get all dressed up!

Another benefit is Parrot Cay falls on Wednesday, which is the whole Tropical/Mexican night, so that should be nice!

Tropical/Mexicali is on Wed for the Western Itinerary....which mtdewbuzz is on. I know this because we are sailing the same cruise as them!!!!

We are going to do Palo on Tues because the rotation we requested is APL (no guarantees we will get it, but I am hoping) and Animator's Pallet is our least favorite rest. which falls on Tues.

We were thinking along the same lines as Mtdewbuzz. (We are on the Aug 3) We too are hoping for APLAPLA rotation. I don't mind the dressing up but a couple of my family members are not too enthusiastic about it.

I think we are going to try for Thursday. I like lobster better than it likes me anyway.

Are there any disadvantages to doing Palos on an "at sea" day rather than when you are in port??

On the Western we did it on Tuesday (Grand Cayman) day. We missed the Master Chef night. We didn't do it purposefully that way, but when I got home and saw the menu, I'm glad we did it that night.

The chiken stuffed with vegetables is INCREDIBLE. Chose it because I wanted chicken, I never thought it would taste like it did.

Enjoy

For the person who asked about missing the shows, there is one night that they do not have a show...I think it was Tues on the Eastern, but you'll have to check www.dcltribute.com, the Navigators section, to double check the shows for each night.
