Which restaurant on property has the best Scrapple?

I always think of PA as being up north, but some of that is surely southern, particularly chow chow and apple butter.
Different versions but came from the same line. Mostly Appalachian route. As for Apple Butter, same thing. Appalachian treat that spread out. PA is big with apple orchards so anything apple is big up there. lol

Y’all, I’m still begging for them to make sweet tea down there in literally THE southernmost state!! (Southernmost and southern-ist are clearly not synonymous.) But I’ve got to say, I didn’t realize how redneck PA is—bumping it UP on our bucket list!! 🤣🤣🤣

It's called Pennsyltucky for a reason. ;) Get up in those hills - you will understand.

That’s hilarious. My cousin married a guy from Philly and lived there for years, but I’ve never heard that one. Will have to ask!

please allow me to introduce you to my favorite Pennsylvanian… The Chicken Necker.

Would that be chow-chow plain, or chow-chow with the whiteish yellow pickling juice?

Can't do Philadelphia without Taylor's Pork Roll !

Expanding a bit to add Lettuce with hot bacon dressing, and a shot of Boilo from the coal region north of Allentown.

Why not both? They will also need some bags of Utz chips and Hammond pretzels. Might need to work some Turkey Hill ice tea and ice cream in there? Wilbur buds?

Turkey Hill Ice Cream and Iced Tea is everywhere in the nation now I believe. Kroger. lol

And so are Tastykakes since some time in the 1990's. Before that, I used to mail my brother Tastykakes for Christmas wherever he was living (Italy, Mississippi, Las Vegas, Missouri, and Florida).

True but the selection is very small here in Texas. We are getting Yuengling beer in a couple of weeks here so there is that. :)

Have you tried Yuengling ice cream? Sooooo good. The Churro flavor is out of this world.
Think it was sold in 2019 or 2020 to a Company that may have the capacity to expand availability. Ice cream formulation is supposed to stay the same -

I have not had the ice cream yet. We don't get any of that in Texas. I am from PA but moved out of there as fast as I could back in 1998.

I live in those hills. Literally. My "village" is surrounded by state forest on all sides. Gal up here posts that she has finished butchering and scrapple is for sale $5 / block and you can't get to her quick enough. Better than any store bought!

Me too. Grew up on top of a mountain overlooking the Susquehanna River.

I bet that’s heaven!

I was very pleased to find my chain supermarket in Northern Virginia carries Scrapple. The area has a big Latinx population, and the meat dept manager said the Chipotle flavored Scrapple (!!!) had seemed to find a following there.
