DH and I are planning to put the kids in the Neverland Club one night, and enjoy a date! :cool1: Considering we have 3 kids and 3 hours at the club will cost us around $100, we want to go somewhere that only requires 1 TS credit. DH is kind of picky -- but he loves a good steak and potato. I am much more open to anything. I have checked out the various menus and narrowed it to 5 places that look like somewhere he might enjoy. Which would you choose and why? Thanks!

Also, if you have any other suggestions, please check other and clarify.

I voted for Kona before I even read your post. If the kids are in the Neverland Club, then it makes perfect sense. My DH and I did Kona last trip, with the kids in Neverland and really had a nice meal. We also loved exploring the resort. Have fun! BTW - my girls loved the Neverland Club.

Pam

If your DH wants steak I would pick Le Cellier out of your choices. However Spoodles has some really good food and we like the atmosphere at the Boardwalk. After dinner you can spend the remainder of your 3 hours checking the Boardwalk out or if you have room for dessert you might walk over to Beaches & Cream at the Beach Club.

I voted for Spoodles. Kona would be equally as good a choice, though.

I voted for Coral Reef because they have a really good New York Strip. I also like Le Cellier but think the underwater atmosphere of Coral Reef is very nice. However, Kona would also be very good, wonderful food and right at the Poly with the Neverland Club. So that could maybe knock some time off your bill for babysitting! The only thing I don't like about Kona is the atmsophere, its basically a hotel coffee shop type thing. And I can see it being noisy from all the people waiting right outside to be seated at O'Hana. I think all of your choices are good ones, I'll be interested to see which one wins the poll.

Oh and somebody mentioned Yachtsmen, but that is a two ts place so I don't think that will work.

Oh I also have to add the food at Wolfgang Puck's is good and the portions are huge (which most men really like!), but honestly it is so noisy in there, I don't know how the two of you would have a nice conversation. If you do choose that one, I suggest the earliest ADR you can come by. If you go early before the crowds arrive, its alot quieter!

I said other because you need to consider Narcossee's at GF. Really great food (loved the lobster) and terriffic view of lagoon. Only problem, it is 2 TS's.

DH and I are doing Capn' Jack's for our date night because we want to go to RR/PI afterwards. If this isn't a factor for you, I would say Le Cellier or Coral Reef but LC definitely has the better steak options. You could also choose the Concourse Steakhouse as well.

Go with some place on the monorail since your kids are the Neverland club.

We have 2 kids, and the ride and walk to Epcot to catch dinner eats a lot of time, but we used the monorail too to get to Epcot. Maybe driving will be faster.

Anyway, someone else suggested a place at the GF, I agree. Close yet nice enough you could even take a stroll back from the GF back to the Poly via the walkway. Very nice at night.

Kona Cafe has great food, wonderful food even, but is really casual, and the atmosphere is not like a nice place at the GF, if you know what I mean.

^^^^^ What she said!

There are a lot of places I would suggest for a date night, but you should do something on the monorail line so you are just a hop, skip and jump away from the Neverland Club. That will save a little money, also...you will be very close to the club so there will not be a lot of time wasted on travel.

I have never eaten at Kona, but I hear the food is awesome, but it does seem a little casual for a date night. Nothing wrong with that, though, if that's what you want!

Have fun!

I voted for other, however Kona Cafe and Le Cellier are nice restaurants.I had the best meal I have ever eaten at Jiko,if your husband loves steak the tenderloin and mac and cheese is awesome. I am also really looking forward to Artist Point and Citricos my next trip .Either of those restaurants would probably be great choices also.
Enjoy whatever you decide!!!!!!:)

I've never been there, but supposedly has the best steak...

and I believe they offer 2 hours of free daycare, which would defer some of the cost of the dinner...

I'd save the 1TS for a character with the kids, and instead do Shulas.

Goldi

Goldi makes a GREAT suggestion! I didn't think about that. Pay OOP for either Shula's OR Blue Zoo (that place is awesome, we are going again next trip) and get FREE child care for up to 2 hours for all three kids! Camp Dolphin is my DD's favorite kid's club!

I voted "other" for the California Grill. Great atmosphere and top notch food!!:goodvibes

I voted for Kona Cafe b/c

#1 they have a greak steak teryaki! :thumbsup2
#2 the atmosphere is great for grown adults (not extremely kiddish or overcrowded) Le Cellier is extrememly croweded. They cram as many tables as they can in there and it kills the atmosphere I feel. :crowded:
#3 if you're kids are at the Neverland Club, all you have to do to drop them off and pick them up in hop on the monorail!:drive:

I voted other because I would like a romantic dinner with my dh at Fulton's Crab House in DTD. But Kona would be my 2nd choice.

Not to be a downer (so sorry), but are those 3 year old twins almost 4? Is happy birthday in order? The reason I ask is because they have to be potty trained and 4 according to the rules I've seen for the kids clubs. Disney does have recommended babysitter services for inroom sitting though. Again, sorry if this is a moot issue.

I went with Le Cellier via process of elimination.

I personally don't consider Kona, Spoodles, or Pucks very romantic. Good food and all, but no real romance.

Coral Reef has significant potential, but the atmosphere seems to excite kids to a pretty high degree. I had one of my worst dining experiences here in my life a few years ago, but I'm not going to rehash it on this thread.

Which leaves me with Le Cellier. He can certainly get a good steak, and the dim lighting does lend to the romance. But it can also be a bit noisy.

For my dime, the most romantic restaurant is the Bistro de Paris in France. It is not on the dining plan, nor is it inexpensive. But it is one of the more romance infused restaurants on the property.

Regardless, enjoy your 3 hours!

Coolpool-I am hoping she just has not updated her signature. I see she signed up for the DIS in 2004. Let's hope for her sake!

MadToad-Your post made me very happy because DH and I are going to WDW for our 10 year anniversary next month, and one night we are trying Bistro for the very first time!

CoolPool -- the twins are already potty trained and will be 4 by the time we go. So no issues there.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I never knew you could get free sitting at the Dolphin if you dine at Shula's. That's definitely something to think about. Looks like LeCellier is winning the poll so far -- that was my first choice anyway. And sadly, romantic atmosphere is not my first priority. Just a nice dinner with DH where we I am not having to cut up 3 other plates of food and can actually eat while my meal is still hot is enticing enough! :rotfl:
