Which restaurant did you hate that's raved about on the DIS?

I did not enjoy my lunch at Crystal Palace (this was years ago--1999 I believe). We had a PS, but we had to wait outside in the heat for over 45 minutes. I realize this can happen even with a PS, but I have never waited this long at any other WDW restaurant when I have had a PS. The server was very nice and attentive, but we found the food to not be to our tastes. The characters were nice though.

I also did not like Garden Grill very much. Some of our food was good (the strawberry shortcake and the side dishes were pretty good), but the meats were not tasty at our lunch. I didn't hate it, but I'm not dying to go back either.

I will say that if I have a lukewarm experience at some restaurants, I will sometimes give them a second chance. I wouldn't do this if I had a horrible experience, then I wouldn't give them a second chance. I gave Le Cellier a second chance, and it turned out to be the best meal on our last trip.

This thread is very funny to me. I read some reviews and my mouth drops open. Best meals I've ever had are on some of your the bad lists. I'm not critisizing, it's just very interesting to me. Let me think if I have one. My wife and I didn't love alfredos or marakesh (sp). We did however LOVE Le Cellier and Flying Fish. Oh, I've got a good one. When I ate at the Callifornia grill, I wasn't thrilled. I'm willing to give them another chance though. It looked like they had a conferece or something eating there and it was REALLY REALLY crouded.

Fultons - overpriced, wrong bread, weird waiter, dry crab

Liberty Tree Tavern - WAY too salty entrees. Too much like TV dinners

I've never ate somewhere I can say I hated, there are places I didn't care for but even at those places I can see why others would enjoy them. Here's where we ate that didn't thrill me-

The Flying Fish but it was back in 1998. The sevice was very slow, the food portions tiny and it really wasn't that good.

California Grill- It was a fun atmosphere but I'm a very plain, picky eater and didn't really find much that I liked.

Boma- Maybe I expected more after reading all the rave reviews but I didn't think dinner was that wonderful. It was good but not great. We liked breakfast there much better!

Chef Mickey's dinner. The Characters were great but the food was horrible.

San Angel Inn-- Poor service, terrible food.

Columbia Harbor House-- Cold, Greasy, tasteless food.

Hated Chef Mickey's for dinner!!! Everything was just aweful!!!

Tony's was horrible too!!! Food was the worst we have ever eaten at WDW.

We will never return to Tony's.
We may try Chef Mickey's for breakfast, because so many people say the breakfast is good. But will never go back for dinner!!!

50's Prime Time--I don't spend the time and the money I do on these trips to be yelled at while being fed very bland, unispired food.

Rainforest Cafe--Not just at wdw. They're all horrible.

Hate is such a strong word--disappointed better describes our experiences at:

Donald's--felt very rushed and the character interaction was a huge letdown. I won't do this one again.

CRT--the food selection wasn't anything we really wanted--it just wasn't "all that" after all the trouble to get the PS.

Just remembered two other awful experiences  .
We stopped for lunch at Tony's one day because DD was having a meltdown and she loves spaghetti. . . . BAAAAD IDEA! Way overpriced and the spaghetti sauce was dreadful - runny and worse flavor than Chef Boyardee!!! This was a big disappointment, because we had eaten breakfast there before, which had been wonderful (don't think they serve breakfast there anymore :( ).
Other BAD experience was 50's Primetime. Food was very mediocre. We were there during a major heatwave (over 100) in early June a few years ago. Was just starting to cool off and relax when the waitress came up and told me to get my elbows off the table, then squirted two piles of ketchup where my elbows had been so I wouldn't put them back! This was overkill and almost made me nauseated   .

A fun thread. About as many opinions as restaurants. The only restaurants that we will probable never go back to are Palio's and Portabello Yacht Club. We love Italian, but both these restaurants were pretty bad. In addition, the waiter at Palio's was a condescending snob.

I'll defend the HDDR. It is not the food, but the fun. If you can not get into the show, I certainly could not recommend the food. A great spot for large mixed-age groups. We celebrated our 40th anniversary there, and it was a blast.

On our last trip we really disliked the Whispering Canyon Cafe, The food was not really that bad unfortunately we got a really bad server. Somehow she "forgot" to put in our order and did not comeback to check on our table for a long time. I hope I do not get "flamed" for this but the whole "Ketchup" thing got annoying after awhile.

We didn't "hate" it but we had a bad experience at Le Cellier in 2001 (very poor service...waited almost an hour for our food :() so don't have any plans to go back there again. We were so excited to be eating in "Canada" ;) but the experience left us wishing we'd spent our $120 elsewhere.

I don't think anyone has raved about it, but we haven't had good luck at the ABC Commissary at MGM. We've tried it twice now and the food was awful both times. I've threw my last meal away it was so bad.

I know it is a fast food place, but wow it was bad for us.

I feel Tony's has gone way done over the last couple of years used to be one of our favorites and now we aviod eatting there.

We were really disapointed in Nine Dragons. This was awhile back though (95 I think)

Last trip, I wasn't thrilled with Crystal Palace. Bummer because Eyeore is my fave character. We wil prob. try it again on a future trip, if it continues to be the only Pooh meal option.

Donald's Breakfast was horrible in my opinion. My hubby had no problem with it though.

Chef Mickeys isn't my favorite pick either. My DD loves it, and insists on going back.

I think every restaurant, I have scheduled for my next trip are on this post somewhere

O'Hana for dinner was not a favorite with anyone. However, we enjoyed the character breakfast there.

Boma was not as good this past trip. We won't be going there again.

I don't hate anything at WDW (hey, at least I'm at WDW), but I've had a few disappointments.

Tony's was a big disappointment. Everything tasted like it came from a can. Went once and probably won't go back.

I know a lot of people love the 50s Prime Time, but I just don't like the funny waiters and waitresses there. It's not that I'm a grump, I just hate nagging, why would I want people to tell me to eat everything on my plate and eat faster when I'm on vacation? I love the retro atmosphere though and, luckily, the waiters can usually tell I'm not into the funny stuff and usually tone down their spiels.

Liberty Tree Tavern wasn't a favorite with us. The food was bland--TV dinner food is what it tasted like to us--and they insisted on seating this really cranky 2 year old with us. I mean, I know she came in with us but still....!
