Which resorts to visit at Christmas time?

DH and I will be arriving at Disney World on December 29 and don't want to use that as a park day. We planned on maybe visiting some of the resorts to see the Christmas decorations before they are taken down. Anyone have suggestions on which resorts are not to be missed? Thanks

I would recommend not missing the WL and GF decorations. We stayed at the WL the first week of December 2000 and just loved the Christmas tree and decorations plus we had never stayed there before, it was great. The decorations at the GF are very beautiful also and not to be missed IMHO! I suggest visiting as many of the WDW resorts you can, they are all beautifully decorated and each one is different. Enjoy!

I would definitely visit the Grand Floridian. What you might want to do is plan to just take the monorail around and stop at each hotel. They all have some nice decorations. Everyone says the WL has nice decorations, too, but we haven't actually seen them.

You might also want to consider making the trip to DTD. The decorations there, especially at night, with all the lights are really pretty.

As far as the other hotels...the Dolphin typically has a huge tree in the lobby area. And, the YC/BC and Boardwalk all, in the past, have had nice displays with gingerbread houses, trains, etc. They are nice to see.

The moderates typically don't have as lavish of decorations as some of the deluxes so those would probably be only if you get a chance.

Of course, don't miss the Osborne lights. They are absolutely beyond description. You'll enjoy the season. We love it there during the Christmas season.

We are looking into a December weekend escape. I'm guessing it will be strange without the summer masses and the long lines. But what are the Osborne lights? Thanks - Marty
