We are considering a short (4 night) trip to WDW this summer (July or August) with some friends. There would be 2 adults and 2 teenagers total, and we would be getting two rooms at the same resort. We definitely want to stay on property in a deluxe resort. Our friends have been to WDW at least 15 times within the past 14 years and have stayed at all the deluxe properties except the YC, BWI, SS, OKW, and WL. We've stayed at the WL and Poly before.

So, our choices are...
~Polynesian
~Grand Floridian
~Contemporary
~Wilderness Lodge
~Animal Kingdom Lodge
~Boardwalk Inn
~Beach Club

Our favorite park is Epcot, but we also will spend a lot of time at Hollywood Studios. We want a resort with good restaurants, both CS and TS, and a good pool.

So, which should we choose and why? :confused3

Thanks,
Simon :)

Also, if someone could post some pics of the rooms at the BWI, that would be really appreciated! Thanks again! :)

We love the Yacht/Beach Club! First, the location is Perfect and second, the pool totally rocks. The cast members are amazing, mousekeeping is perfect and the dining is great. They have a pool side eatery that is really good and the Beach Club has Beaches and Cream, a cute little eatery that has this dessert called the Kitchen sink which is like 15 scoops if icecream and every topping they have and its actually served in this kitchen sink like bowl. Very fun place!

What about the Villas at the Boardwalk? Is it cheaper to get a 2-bedroom villa and have both families share the cost, or to get two standard rooms?

It might be a little cheaper to get the villa, but you should check. Our disney travel agent could answer that very quickly for you. Her name is Missy and she totally rocks. Her services are FREE and she'll do everything from answering basic questions to making ressies and ADR's for you. Her email is missywdwtravel@mindspring.com

BC/YC would be my choice. We love the close proximity to Epcot and DHS. SAB is awesome, and the decor s nice but not over the top. Like PP said, a 2 bedroom studio would be a good way to cut costs, but if your friends have stayed deluxe 15 times, this probably isn't an issue.
Whatever you decide, have a great trip!!

The price really isn't an issue, but I was thinking Villas not only for the price, but also for breakfasts. Neither family likes going out to eat 3 times per day, so if we could cut it down to two, that would be great.

How are the Villas at the Beach Club? The reason I am asking is because I looked on the WDW site for BWV info, and apparently most of them have views of parking lots: something we DON'T want. What are the views at the BCV?

I think people are being a little tough on the Beach Club Villas. Many of them have wonderful views. If a pool is important, Stormalong Bay just can't be beat. It's shared with Yacht, Beach and the Beach Club Villas. It isn't quite clear to me from your post how your group is made up. A 2 BR Beach Club Villa has one huge bedroom with a king sized bed and the second bedroom has two queen sized beds or a queen and a pull out sofa. The living room has a sleeper sofa.
Since your friends have been to WDW so many times, it might not hurt to ask if they have a favorite or a suggestion.

good luck
John

p.s. we have 4 teenagers and our favorite is Old Key west but it doesn't have the great restaurants you want.

I never pick a hotel just because it is close to a certain park. Nothing in Disney is really that far from anything else.

I pick based on hotel (and monorail, truth be told.) AKL is my favorite and Beach Club is second favorite, but I usually end up at the Poly because everyone else wants to stay there. The monorail comes in very handy and I do like the EWP. :)

Pick the theme you like best and go with it. You'll be glad you did. :thumbsup2
