We are going to disney in a couple of years, probably around 2010, our group will consist of myself, my daughter, my granddaughter who at that time will be 3 years old, my sister, her grown children and her three grandkids which at that time will range in age from 6 to 9, and any other extended family members who want to tag alone.

Last time we went we stayed off site, but next time would like to stay in one of the resorts to save driving time. We need something affordable because we will be renting several rooms. We would like something with a kitchen since we will have the kids with us I think it would just be easier if we had dishwasher, fridge, etc. Something to keep the kids entertained when we are not at the park.

Can someone please make a suggestion.

Of course the Villas...you may want to try to rent points from a DVC member. I have never done this, can someone help? I would say the Beach Club Villas-
OKld Key West (i think) and Saratoga Springs I believe have the Grand Villas which are huge -not sure if you would need THAT much space...

I agree. If you need a full kitchen and lots of bedrooms, renting points for a villa is the way to go. You should pop over and check out that Disboard. There is tons of info.:)

also get the All star music suite for one group in your family.

the rest just get rooms at all star music.

it has a kitchennett - sleeps 6.

all star music is a value resort - it will be cheaper than renting a 1 or 2 bedroom even from a DVC member.

the studios have the same setup as all star music suites.

I don't think that you would be able to find anything onsite that has a kitchen, dishwasher, fridge and is affordable.

The villas have the amenities you are looking for but you would need a Grand Villa and then some for the amount of people you have going. Those can be very pricey even if you rent them from a member.

You might find it easier to neglect the dishwasher and go with the value suites that have a kitchenette. The values also have good food courts.

First of all, how many bedrooms would you need or like?

A Grand Villa sounds like it would be perfect for you and they are reasonably priced if you rent points from a DVC member or if you get an annual pass discount (which are often 40% off). A Grand Villa if the equivalent of three hotel rooms (one with a king bed, two with two queen beds and a fold-out couch in the living room), a huge living room, a kitchen, three to four bathrooms and a laundry room. For example, Old Key West and Saratoga Springs run $1170/night (according to allearsnet.com), which is $702 after taking 40% off and $234/night after dividing by three. If you rent points you can save even more money especially if avoid Friday and Saturday nights.

Also consider a two-bedroom villa and a studio or one-bedroom villa, you would still get a kitchen, laundry room and a living room for everyone to visit with each other. This will probably be cheaper too.

To view the villas go to allearsnet.com and look under accommodations; you will find a list of all of the resorts under Disney Vacation Club Resorts on the left of the page.

We have tried both configurations with my and my husband's families and the Grand Villa was the best but they book up fast so book one early if you want one. Oh, to get an annual pass discount you only need to purchase one annual pass for each reservation and watch for the dates that the discounts are available - usually during the slow times.

When are you thinking of going? Certain times of year, such as January or September, or cheaper and it will be easier to get the rooms that you want (you will also be able to get more accomplished and relax more because the lines are significantly shorter)

Good luck,

Regina

I wonder if it was the grand villa that I went through when I took a tour at SSR. (Most likely. I don't recall what they called it.) It had three bedrooms, three baths, slept 12, and I think was 2150 sq ft. Quite the place.

The cabins located at Fort Wilderness might work for you... They have a kitchen and it is great to be a boat ride from the MK... There is tons of stuff to do at the campgrounds to keep the kids busy!
