Just wondering which DVC resort has the best 'studio' accomodations.
We currently have a studio booked at SSR for the end of Nov but I was thinking on changing it to OKW at the 7month mark.
We normally stay in 1 one bedroom homes but I want to save points so I can bank for my next use year.
I'm trying to determine which resort has bigger sized studio rooms. Any comments suggestions would be appreciated.

OKW's studios have 2 queen beds. That's the only one with the extra real bed. We are a couple, and prefer the ones with the sofa bed. We prefer the sofa for watching TV.

Agree with Bobbi. OKW is the biggest in sq. feet, but we prefer the sofa bed layout better. We are a family of 4.
OKW is last on my list of studios because we dont prefer that layout.

The deck on the OKW studio is very big:wizard:

Doing a quick check it looks like HHI is first at 455 sq. ft, followed by OKW at 390 sq. ft. and third by AKV-Kidani at 366 sq. ft.

Not sure about BLT or VGC, but since they follow the new layout similar to Kidani my guess is they are similar in size.

The bathroom at the OKW studio is also larger than the other studios. The tub, toilet and sink are all in the same room. At the others, the sink is outside the room with the tub and toilet jammed into a small space.

While OKW has the largest onsite studios, but the studios at the other resorts sometimes "feel" larger since they all have the sleep sofa that provides more space in the villa when folded up. All OKW studios have 2 queen beds with no sleep sofa. OKW does have larger bathrooms than those at the other resorts.

HH definitely has the largest DVC studios though with a nice layout and HUGE balconies.

Here are some reported room size averages for DVC resorts:

I would prefer the OKW because it has 2 queen beds.

How do the sofa's sleep? Are they comfy? Do you leave them out the whole time you are there? Do you fold them up each day?

I've slept on the sofa beds many times and I've found them quite comortable. We always close the bed during the day so we have more space.

Thank you for this info! I've often wondered myself the different sizes. I'm saving this! :flower3:

Note: those are averages, so you might have a room larger or you might have a room smaller.

Thanks! We've stayed in enough of the weird size one bedrooms to know that one! You should have seen this one we stayed in at SSR, I swear it was a kid's playhouse size! :lmao: I wish we would have taken pictures of that one. It was sooo cute.

thanks for the info...

will be returning in fall of 2011 for a 15 yr anni trip and will stay in a studio...

BLT is our home, but thinking of BWV to be closer to Epcot for Food and Wine Festival...

That's a very popular time with DVCers especially for BWV and BCV and studios tend to fill up quickly. Make sure you get reservations for the time you want to go at BLT at the 11 month window and then try your luck at 7 months for BWV!

Wow! Thanks-you so much the info. Much appreciated.

that is what I suspected...

can't go wrong w/ BLT but would be nice to have the walking advantage to Epcot...I wasn't actually sure how booking at your home 11 mo out works to your advantage when you want to stay somehwere else...but now I see that it is like your back up plan...yes?

so I book BLT 11 mo out call back to try and get BWV at 7 mo...what if they don't have all my days..can you waitlist 1 resort while still have ressie at another :confused3

I know this is a ways off...but as long as I'm thinking of it...

TIA!

OKW may be larger and have 2 beds but it's a really weird layout with dinky old TV's high up on top of a chest of drawers (it sits at a weird angle). The bathrooms are contained all in one room rather than with the split bath set up so that you're limited to only 1 person getting ready at a time. We prefer the split bath layout so more than 1 person can be getting ready at a time. The closet is also really small in the studio. The studio at VWL has 2 nice sized closets...one by the entrance and one by the sink...

My wife and I usually stay in studios w/o others, so we enjoy the sofas. That being said, however, we are not comfortable sitting on the HHI sofas, which are the same in the studios and the 1BR units. They are comfortable for sleeping, especially compared to the traditional skinny mattress designs, but don't measure up as a sofa. Are they of a different design from other DVC sleep sofas? It would seem so.
