Which resort has the best pool for kids (namely in the 5 to 10 yrs old age group)?

We may spend a day pool-hopping (except where excluded, of course...:() and thought we'd ask around!

Although I have never been there it is said that the beach club stromalong bay is the best - but according to these boards pool hopping is not allowed here. BWV keister coaster is great spent 2 days there less than 2 days ago - also poly and grand floridian have good pools according to many. If you are looking for a quieter time at a pool I would suggest OKW.

BWV has a great slide, The Poly has a nice atmosphere but I would say Coronado Springs is the best of the rest for both.

IMHO, WL has a great pool - certainly it's just as nice as BWV, the GF and the Poly. Personally, I can't see the attraction to packing up the kids and going somewhere else to swim unless it's to a water park. To each their own!

THanks for the pools opinions. We will be @ VWL, and I am sure kids will love the WL pool. We thought we might take a morning and hit another pool, tho (probably BW) and have lunch there, etc. just to check it out. We're actually owners over at BWV and have never stayed there, so maybe a trip there will convince us to give it a try!!

BTW, the reason we're looking to pool-hop instead of just doing a water park is that we have 3 very diverse height / age groups that would make the water parks quite difficult ("Why does HE get to ride and I can't? That's not fair! Wah Wah Wah....). Maybe next trip, when our two oldest can BOTH do all the rides. IN the meantime, we won't be spending extra $$... the pools are already paid for!

THanks again --

LOL, Cindy. We only had one child so never had that particular problem. Have a wonderful trip!

P.S. My 5 1/2 year old nephew just loved the BWV pool slide. I'd classify him as an "almost" swimmer. (He could dog paddle from the bottom of the slide to the side of the pool). When the lifeguard noticed my SIL standing at the bottom of the slide every time "just in case", he suggested she check out a life vest for him. (It was free for DVC members, maybe for hotel guests, too, but not sure). It worked out just great. My SIL could sit nearby on a deck chair with a cool drink and he got to go down that slide lots and lots of times without any assistance at the bottom. I'm not sure he really needed any help, but no one wanted to take the chance until he had the life vest. Set the adults' minds at ease (and probably made the lifeguard's job easier too!

the POFQ has a slide that you 5 year will love - it is a water dragon (serpent) that is very cute - the slide is slow so your older kids will get bore fast - but your youngest will love it.

Do consider checking out a lifevest for your younger child. You can get them for free at the marina at VWL and you keep the same one for your length of stay. If the marina is closed, ask the lifeguard and they will tell you which door to knock on to get someone to help you. The lifevest can be worn on the slides and in the pools, but not in the hot tubs. If you pool hop, I would recommend that you bring yours from VWL. I like the Poly pool a lot. It has a cool slide and has a zero depth entrance near the lagoon.

We spent a week this summer, 3 nites at new BCV and 4 at OKW. Both were great. Stormalong Bay is exciting, busy and so much fun for us old parents and the young children! The quiet pool at OKW was glorious -- heated to almost hot-tub warmth, which I LOVED.

Anyway, no matter where we stay, we spend a good part of our visit pool-hopping. I like the parks at WDW, but I LOVE the resorts. We only visit the parks a small percentage of the days we visit, and the rest is resorts. This trip we spent a nice day at the Polynesian. My husband took turns speedboating on the lake with each of our 2 children, while I kept the other child at the Poly pool. Add a few frozen Pina Coladas and this was one of the nicest days at WDW.

We also arrived a night early and stayed at Coronado Springs. Had never been there before.... Anyhow, the main pool there is big and warm, with a great slide that is not too steep or scary for Mommies or small children. There was a basketball hoope set up in the shallow end that the kids loved. The large hot tub here was great after the long drive... Overall, sampling the various pools of the world is just about our favorite thing... and it's FREE!:)
