I am traveling in June with a group of 12-16 year olds. These are really special kids who have worked very hard for this trip! I've never been with kids this age, and I wonder what resort they might enjoy most. Any thoughts?

My dd, almost 12 now, has been to many WDW resorts. Her favorites, in order are....POR, Pop, BWV, AllStarMusic, Contemporary, BCV, Polynesian. The only thing she wishes she could change about POR would be the pool slide. She loved it until she found the slide at BWV!!! She just loves the clown slide. When we stayed at BCV in June I was sure she was going to love SAB the most since she is a fish. But, that wasn't the case. She hated having to leave the pool area to get to the slide entrance. She said she felt a bit uncomfortable doing that.
She loved the theming at Pop last month. She actually liked walking around the resort looking at the different 'eras'.
I don't think you can go wrong with any of them though.

GEM, I have 3 kids ages 5, 9. ad 15. All three of then unanymously would choose the CR over any other WDW resort. Especially my 15 yr old son. The girls are happy anywhere, really, but the CR is his FAVE.

We have stayed at all the deluxes (except BWI), and stayed Swan and Dolphin. Their absolute favorite is the CR. They ALWAYS want to stay there because of the arcarde (number one), the shops, the restaurants, the MK view, the ability to walk b/f to the MK, just the overall location. I know they think the CR is cool - I am talking about what a lot of people do not like - the look of the place and the style of the building. There is an excitement and a feeling of fun in that resort. The GF is my personal favorite, but my kids LOVE that Contemporary.

We are planning a Thanksgiving trip and will be on the tower club floor to check out those new rooms. I will be interested in my kids' opinion on the new decor. Believe it or not, they really liked the "Jetsons" rooms. ;) (That should give you an idea of my kids' taste & value of their opinions, though! :earboy2: )

Happy planning!

my pre-teen (who thinks she's a teen! LOL!) loved Pop Century *the* best! the arcade is top notch (and gives tickets to redeem for prizes) and the pools were fun and had lots of space for playing catch and/or monkey in the middle (w/a waterball)... we found the layout of the pool at pofq/por was not as good for this type of game...

CR, Pop and POR all have superior arcades - comparing them to other resorts.

BC/YC/BCV has the superior swimming pools - followed by CSR, Polyn, OKW (the new slide), WL, POR, CR, BWV (I hate that silly clown) - these are based on the slides only.

these are my opinions!!!

you can rent points from a DVC member and stay in a 2-bedroom or a bunch of studios for much less than renting through CRO.

the DVC resorts are OKW, SSR, BCV, BWV and VWL.

I think to get an acurate opinion you need to let us know if you are thinking of staying in a vaule, moderate, or deluxe resort. Then you can compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges. :teeth:

When I was younger my favorite was and probably still is the Polynesian. The pool was the best.

My 2DS15 love por. They love to use the watercraft. At the monorail resorts you must be a liscenced driver to drive the small boats, at POR and the EPCOT resorts only 12 and 5' tall.

I'm looking forward to them turning 16 so I can stay at the Poly and GF ;)

My teens loved POFQ for the pool, arcade, and food court.

If your talking deluxe my kids prefer the BWI and Polynesian.

They love the boats, theme, and ease of the Polynesian. They like the BWI for the activity on the BW and getting to MGM and Epcot easily.

I have to agree with the other poster about SAB, I thought they would love it but didn't at all. They said the same thing about the slide and that it was just too crowded. They liked Beaches and Cream but most times we had to get take out because the wait was just too long.

I think once all the rooms are done we are gunna have to give the CR another try. We already make a stop there to eat and hang out once each trip.

My nieces stayed at POP last year when they were 12 and 14 and loved it! It's the only resort they've stayed at, but they want to go back. Enjoy!

Our kids loved CBR last year..we had to drag them from the pool area! Tomorow we try POP with 2 extra teens..we'll let you know how it goes over!

My son who is a preteen loved the CSR pool. That was his absoluete favorite.

POR here too. Both DS's 14 & 15 loved this resort best over all catagories of resorts.

Our teens loved the YC! They really enjoyed the slide at SAB, but they also enjoyed the quiet pool. There were never any young kids over there. You know teens (they forget they were once little kids!!!).

But they are really wanting to stay at the Contemporary on our next trip (especially the 12 y/o). They would also like to stay at they Poly.

Our 12 y/o loved the AKL also, but the 16 y/o claimed he liked the YC much much more.

One thing I found about the AKL, teens may feel a bit confined out there. At the YC, our 16 y/o had more area to "roam around" in. He could go down to the arcade and we even let him walk across to the Boardwalk a couple of times at night. They seem to like anyplace where they can get away from mom and dad for a couple of hours. ;)

We've yet to make our first trip, but I let my 3 (15, 14 & 12) look at tons of pics and stats of resorts and they liked the Poly and CBR the best. Poly is a little out of my price range, lol. So CBR it is!

One of the huge factors in the decision, though, was that they could drive the Sea Raycers by themselves at CBR - now I'm hearing that the rules have changed and they must be 16 with a valid driver's license at all of the resorts, not just the Magic Kingdom resorts, :( so we may be looking at a change in plans.
