Which resort didnt live up to your expections..

It makes me laugh that peolple going to WDW can actually complain about walking at a resort. I lost count on how many times I read, "It was to far of a walk to the pool", "The elevators are to far" The parking lot/bus stop was to far" and of course "The walk from my room to the food area was so long". For people with medical issues I understand, but the majority do not have these issues. We stayed at POR Riverside and was in the back of the resort, it took a "whole(sarcastic)" 8 minutes to walk to the food court. My family enjoyed the walk, after all day at the parks it was a way to unwind before we got to our room. When it rained, I turned into a little 47 year old kid and grab my daughters hand and hit every puddle we see:banana: We go by a simple model "you get out of your vacation what you put into it". I hope this does not offend anyone.

:lmao: I love it and totally agree. This is a complaint I have never been able to understand. Disney is a place of long walks so to say the room is a long walk, the food court is a long walk, the pool is a long walk, etc is a complaint I've never quite understood. Heck, we would race the elevator by taking the stairs up and laugh when we could beat grandma to our floor. I can certainly understand those with medical issues and they should be accommodated by having a room as close to the lobby as humanly possible. But as I always tell my kids when we have a long walk, "you've got two legs and a heartbeat, start walking." Hope I don't offend anyone as that is certainly not my intention.:grouphug:

I was disappointed in the Poly. Rooms were very dark and had an odd odor. Hallways were filthy. The same used cup layed on the floor by the soda machine for days. The CM's were robots. We were lucky with a great room location. Maybe because it was part of a Land/Sea vacation but I know my sister in law was in a longhouse SOOOOO far away she was closer to the Transportation and Ticket Station than the monorail. Stinks when you want to refill your refillable mug:sad2:

LOVED the GF. Bright, airy and the CM's were great. You could not stand in the lobby for more than 3 seconds looking confused without someone rushing to assist you. Rooms were spotless and Gasparillo's was great. The only thing I will do next time is upgrade from GV to LV which we unfortunately could not get in Oct so CR HERE WE COME!

I agree 10,000%

It's like people are afraid of walking these days....I don't see anything wrong walking a couple extra yards.....

i agree with loving the long walks :thumbsup2

that's our time to "chat", laugh, puddle jump (yup, still do it;) ), walk backwards just because we can, look for hidden mickeys, recap our day & start planning for all the wonderful things we have to look foward to :cloud9:

maybe that's why we love the BWVs so much!! :lmao:

We were disappointed in the BC. We stayed at a deluxe at WL for 3 days and then decided to stay 2 extra nights. WL was full so we reserved a deluxe at BC. When we checked in (after 4) our room wasn't ready. When we called at 5 it was ready but when we got to the room it wasn't a deluxe. We called the front desk and the CM said very adamantly (sp?) that we had not booked a deluxe and they had no deluxe rooms available. Since we simply aren't the complaining types we lived with it but were very disappointed at not having the big room and the concierge.

The pool and the proximity to EPCOT are great but the balcony barely held one person and we found the food choices to be lacking.

The worst was that when we got home and our credit card bill came we had been charged for BOTH the WV room we stayed in AND the deluxe room we had reserved. When I called Disney they said that if that ever happens again to demand that the CM call reservations.

POR: We went for our anniversary in November and requested a king size bed with a water view. When we got to our room (at around 10 pm), it had two double beds with a view of the parking lot. Taking a look around our room, there were dead bugs on the carpet, a hole in the comforter, and mold growing in the bathroom. Needless to say after my DH spoke to MS the next morning we were moved to an SSR one bedroom villa at no extra charge. :thumbsup2 We also became DVC members that trip so that we won't experience that anymore!

Ours was POFQ. This resort seems to be a favorite on the dis boards. I was excited about staying there because of all the positive reviews I had read. We just did not care for it. It could of been an off week for the resort or something but our entire stay the resort was filthy. We were there the first week of May. I also read another complant on the boards about the resort being dirty the same week we were there. So hopefully they were just short staffed. Our room was overlooking the main pool. It was dirty as well. The carpet was stained, bedspread stained, tub had hair, corners of the room were dusty, and worst of all no remote for the tv. We complained and mousekeeping came and cleaned the tub and dusted the bedside table were there was a sticky ring from a previous drink. We asked to be moved to another room and nothing was available. The food court staff was impossible to deal with. It was so obvious they did not want to be there. It took over a day to get a working remote to our tv. The pool grounds were dirty. I know that has a lot to do with resort guest. Anyway, needless to say we were not happy because we were paying $208. a night. We have stayed at POP, ALLSTAR SPORTS, POR, CSR, CBR, POLY, AND WL. POFQ has been our least favorite so far. So glad disney has so many places to stay!!

The Poly. It is great in location and monorail but other than that the resort just didn't do it for me. It felt dated. And I wasn't overly impressed with the room. I would rather just go to the Poly to go to Ohana's and not to stay there.

I never laughed so hard as I was reading your post. The sounds made me have Post-Tramatic-Stress-Disorder flashbacks to our last year's trip. I just had to chuckle.
The only reason we chose POP was for the heralded dedicated bus line. We heard raves about how much better it was because it didn't have to share a route. One problem: everyone and their dog was wanting the dedicated bus route. The lines for the bus were longer than ANY line in the parks. Then we had to cram in sooo tight, I felt I was cheating on my wife. Not to mention, the actual bus stop was the furthest away from every park entrance. Horribly inconvienent. If we ever do a value again...not likely...we will do one of the others.

Yours gave me flashbacks. :) We didn't mind Pop itself too much last year, BUT the bus lines were horrible!!!! Worst at all the parks every time we were going and coming from the parks and DTD for our entire visit!!! DH says he is never going back to WDW without a rental car.

My cousin and I are a year in age apart, grew up together and have totally different tastes in resorts.

She hates CBR and loves CSR. CBR is one of our favorites and I cant stand CSR. I love AKL and could take or leave WL. She loves WL and is not a big fan of AKL. So dont worry if someone doesnt like the resort your staying at ..you may love it.:lovestruc

Our next trip is to the Boardwalk Inn...my cousin said "Its a great resort"...
I might check out the Beach club instead! :goodvibes

:upsidedow  :music: :wave2:

That was nice of you to bring up this point.

I hate to say this but it was the Poly. We stayed there 10 years ago for my 30th birthday. The room was very dirty, spiders/webs had to be removed from the corners of the room, the light fixture fell off the wall over the bed.....Captain Cook's was closed due to refurbishment and the pools were closing early because of the mosquitos. We were very disappointed with our stay overall.

Now 10 years later we are trying it again!. Even back then I loved the grounds and I know the rooms have been updated in the last 2 years. We want to be on the monorail and in 2006 we stayed at the Contemporary. Time to try the Poly again.

I'm another with the Poly. We've stayed there 3 times, although perhaps I'm not being fair, it was ages ago. It still looks the same to me though.

Out of the two monorail resorts, I definately love Contemporary more. Now I can't justify the price though.

We're just a middle of the road family now though. We prefer POR.

CSR. We love southwestern theming. Our home office is southwestern themed and we love collecting things from the different southwestern cultures. The resort, while beautifully landscaped, was not what we were expecting. The room was bland, a term I am borrowing from another poster. The lobby and registration areas could have been brought more to life. The convention aspect did not bother us, and we were not expecting any Disney whimsy so that didn't bother us either. We just couldn't figure out why the room was so boring, no color, no artistry, no design. The furniture was very worn, the paint chipping. Just not what we expected.

This is exactly why I didn't like Pop!

I also agree with those who like the long walks. I really love the moderate resorts. I think in some ways they are way more peaceful and quieter than the deluxes.

As far as the biggest disappoinment - I didn't really care for the GF. It just didn't feel as "special" as I thought it would.

Beach club . Our first room was dusty, dirty , hair on the bathroom floor , beer cans in the gutters, ants in the sink , and shingles falling off the roof. Changed our room . Better view (no beer cans or falling shingles) just other problems; like old food in fridge, someones, not ours ,close in draws.:confused3 dirty coffee mugs each day. And to top it off , housekeeping threw out my daughters bag of candy and gifts that were in her stocking christmas morning. We complained to housekeeping . They informed us that our housekeeper was new and they would keep an eye on him. Oh well ! It wont keep us away from Disney ,just the Beach club. For now....;)

I am a man of gurth and after absolutely gorging myself via the dining plan hour after hour, I felt if I didn't walk off some of it...my blood would coaggulate instantly. I welcomed the walks...even after a 14+ hour day.

It must depend on where you're from. I'm from the midwest and I feel like all I ever see is snow. I thought CSR was almost TOO colorful! I love the vibrant colors and didn't think it was bland at all. However, if one is used to it, it might not have the same magic. It's so completely different than what I am used to that it's just wonderful for me :)

You know what I find the MOST interesting about this thread on a whole.....:)

The fact that at Disney...there is a vast array of hotels for us all to chose from! I have so enjoyed over the years trying out new places as in resorts. What's one's cup of tea may not float the next boat and that is perfectly acceptable because Disney knows that we are all different.

This is why we love Disney so much....there is something there for everyone. If you don't like this resort...there are 22 more to chose from (or at least that's my last count I recall was a total of 23...) I for one think that is totally cool!

as I always say...a bad day at Disney is still better than a good day at work :rotfl:

My only slight dissapointment out of all my stays was the decor
of the yacht club rooms.
this is supposed to be one of the best.....if felt bare bones to me.The view was outstanding though:goodvibes

Just goes to show you how different we all are. We LOVED the decor at YC  and thought it was just our style. No doubt, this is why Disney offers such a wide variety of choices...there is something for everyone.

As I was reading all of the comments it also occurred to me that every stay in a particular hotel can be a different experience, Disney or not. We have had both fantastic and not so fantastic stays in our favorite local hotel as well.
