My family and I will be visiting WDW from June 18-24.:cloud9: There are TEN of us! 3 adults, 5 kids and two infants. The last time we visited in 2008 we stayed at WL and absolutely loved it! We'd like to stay there again, but it looks like we'd have to stay in 2 Deluxe rooms or 3 Standard rooms. Of course both are rather pricey, Deluxe being the higher of the two. Any suggestions as to other resorts that will accomodate us and that won't break the bank? We don't want to stay at AKL--bus ride is too long. A kitchenette would definitely be a bonus!

Thanks in advance!:thumbsup2

With two infants, you are basically a family of 8. The infants do not add to the occupancy of the room. You could get two rooms at a value resort and put the babies in pack n play cribs. It would be your cheapest option but there would be no kitchenette.

The only other resorts with kitchen facilities onsite would be the Allstar Music Family Suites (too many in your family for 1 suite) or a DVC resort villa with 2 bedrooms (very pricey).

There are a lot of affordable vacation homes around Disney World that would have plenty of room for a family of your size. If having kitchen facitlies is essential, then you might want to check some of them out.

Would you consider staying off site? Windsor Hills or Windsor Palms are beautiful and have houses that would fit your family. I think one of the popular agencies is; Storybook rentals but don't quote me on it.

I would get a house offsite or rent points from a DVC member for a 2 bedroom or 2 Studios. They do have DVC rooms at Wilderness Lodge.

If you want budget - I would do the ALLStar family suite PLUS one standard allstar room. You'd get more space and bathrooms than 2 regular rooms plus you'd get the kitchen facilities.

Of course, I'm guessing you know that with a family that size you could save a considerable amount by getting a house or condo offsite - for a week, depending on time of year you could pay $350 - $750 easily for a week. If you are driving, this especially would be the most budget way. And honestly, especially with so many kids - I prefer it this way. The younger kids can be in their own bedrooms sleeping while the rest watch TV, eat in the kitchen, swim in the pool (if have a private pool), etc.

I'm pretty sure that just one infant under three does not add to the occupancy of the room. Having two infants does. I believe most of the DVC two-bedroom are for 8 people plus ONE infant....although I could be mistaken.

If staying OFF site is agreeable to you there are a lot of houses available that will sleep 10 for very reasonable prices. Check vrbo.com

You're right about the DVC resort, although a 2 bedroom lockout is actually a one bedroom and a studio. It might be possible.

But two infants. Two rooms at a value resort. No problem.

if you like WL, you could try the cabins at ft wilderness. they sleep 6, so you would only need 2 and would have a lot more room than 2 hotel rooms, and they have full kitchens. 10 in a 2 bedroom villa (even with the 2 infants) will be a bit cramped--2 in the master, 4 in the 2nd bedroom, 2 on the pullout and 2 in pack and plays. you will basically be losing all of your living space with all of those people sleeping in the living room.

I know it's not onsite but it's very close and believe me, you won't regret it. Just got back from a trip with 11 (one was a baby, their houses normally hold 10.)

It's hard to offer a suggestion without knowing what your actual budget is per night.

Depends how tight you can be and still be comfy. The cheapest route onsite is 2 value rooms with the babies in playpens

I would go with 2 ASMU suites... or one suite and one regular room. We LOVED ASMU! It was a fabulous resort. If you are flying in, then you won't have to worry about trying to rent cars enough for 10 people. The bus system is great.. and really close to the suites. The suites are all located in the closest (preferred) buildings. The kitchenette was wonderful to have. The pools are really fun. It's definitely worth looking into. I loved having a separate bedroom from my kids, but still be in the same room. The extra bathroom is also great.

What about the Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs Resort? You could try to rent points from a DVC Member. I have never done it but a lot of people have had good experiences.

we had 9 people there.... and I would never do that again. WAY too tight for that many people. I don't think I would go over 6 in them. And we usually sleep 4 to a room at POP. So it's not like we are total resort snobs. ;)

Bonnet Creek Resort! You can rent two two bedroom villas or a three or four bedroom villa. Gorgeous resort right next door to the Caribbean Beach Resort.

I just thought of something...

...is there any way that you could bump your trip up by a week or so? Or maybe the kids will still be in school?

Disney has the Kids Stay and Play Free promotion going on but it is blacked out for the peak summer period. If you manage to visit on or before June 14 and stay onsite, the children's tickets would be free. For a family of your size, that would be a considerable savings.

Our plans are preliminary as we are not going until Sept 2012,
Combined family of 11, maybe 12 (4 adults, 7 or 8 kids ranging in age from 6-17). September is hopefully when free dining will be offered again, that savings alone makes staying onsite worthwhile in my opinion. 2 cabins at FW which include kitchenette and plenty of space. September is low crowds and even though it tends to be humid and rainy, that won't stop us from having a magical time! If free dining was not offered, we would consider staying offsite.

Good luck for a wonderful trip!

The OP never states if the two infants belong to the same parents or not, or which kids belong to which parents. If everyone wants to keep their own kids in their own rooms, that may not even work....it just seems like too many people for just two rooms.
