Which rental company requires receipt of gas??

I guess we know where to not rent from if we don't want to deal with a receipt.

At present Hertz does not require a receipt according to their terms and agreement.

If that is correct and a Hertz location requested it I will be asking them to point out their written requirement. If they can't I won't pay.

Dollar you're stuck, it is spelled out in writing.

I know that Hertz had the policy of showing the receipt. I always have mine handy when I return the car. I have a rental agreement from Hertz in front of me. I will have to check the return location when I return the car.

I have been renting from Hertz for years and never came across this from them. Does the rental agreement you have say anything about that. I looked at the Hertz terms and conditions and asked Hertz today and they said a receipt is not required.

Also checking, Budget and Avis is requesting receipts. They are both owned by Cendant.

Looking at other sites I googled on this subject there is an indication that people are steering away from those company, some saying it delays checkin at airports.

I don't know about Orlando car rentals but in Los Angeles, nearly all the car rental companies ask to see your receipt. At least that has been the experience of most that I know.

However, here in the Desert, no rental car company has ever asked for a receipt.

Manning, I rent from them quite often. My current agreement doesn't mention it but as I recall there was a fuss about this a year or two ago. As I mentioned before I been asked to show the receipt. ATL is one of the cities. Almost every time I go there I am asked for the receipt. There have also been times there that I showed the receipt and they still charged me for gas. I went into the counter and had them remove it.

I asked on Flyer Talk about the policy. I will let you know if I find out any more.

Safetymom, I've had the same from Hertz at PHL.

But I suppose that my question is 'does it really matter?' is it that big a deal to get a receipt? I always get one for expense purposes, so don't know why it's an issue to have a receipt handy if required

What if you are staying within the radius spelled out and you gassed up let's say two days prior to turning in the car with the thought you would travel somewhere. In the meantime you get sick and stay in your room and don't use the car until you return it.

Will they accept that receipt or do you have to go to a station and get a new one (fill it up again).
