Which program to buy?

I am thinking about buying a program to make designs but am totally confused. Which program do you recommend for beginners. I know Photoshop is supposed to be the best but I can't afford it. Is Photoshop Elements a good substitue? Thanks for any information.

I use and love Paint Shop Pro. I guess I'm so used to mine that when I try to use Photoshop, it confuses me. I think it's much harder to use. It may be because I'm used to PSP, IDK...I just know that for me, PSP is the way to go. What I would do if I were you.....use the free trial periods of each and see which you prefer before investing money into purchasing one. Good luck!!

MomETC has the right idea - to get a free trial and try them out first if you can.

I personally use and love Photoshop Elements.
