Which princess character meal??

We just got back and had breakfast at Akershus. The food was good. There was a cold buffet with fruits and pasties and then they brought the hot food to the table. We have scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and potato casserrole. All very good. My DD had her picture taken with Belle (the picture is included) and then Cinderella, Ariel, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White visited our table.

We also ate dinner at 1900 Park Fair. We had a picture taken in front of a mural (picture wasn't included). It didn't take that much time out of our day to get there. The easiest way would be to drive and park at the ticket and transport center since you are staying offsite and catch the monorail. The food is ok. Cinderella, Prince Charming, the step-sisters and step-mother visit the table. Cinderella and the prince dance, but we were in a side room so we sorta missed that. The step-sisters are very funny.

If I had to choose to one again, I would choose Akershus. My daughter was so excited to see the princess that she couldn't sit still. They also spend more time at our table at Akershus that Park Fair.

We've never been to CRT, so can't comment on it. But considering it is more expensive, the other choices might be better if cost is an issue.

We've done all three multiple times.

If you really want Cinderella I would do 1900 Park Fare. Every time we've been there food and service have been really good and the character interaction with Cinderella, Prince Charming, Drucilla, Anastasia and Lady Tremaine has been top notch.

The Princess breakfast is another family favorite. Food and service have always been good. The princesses vary though. Sometimes we've had Cinderella there and other times we haven't. We've always had Belle (greeter), Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Jasmine. They've been joined by Mulan, Cinderella and Ariel. On our last trip we had Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Mulan and Jasmine.

After our last two times at CRT we won't be back. Food and service were ok and it really seemed like they were rushing the princesses through. Given the cost, we won't go back there.

We're sort of princess-crazed here.... so we've done them all.... multiple times.

If you've never eaten in the castle, then that is a must do. There is something SO magical about going into the castle, and the dining hall is just beautiful. I have never had complaints about the food, although many posters like to complain about it. Many say they were rushed at CRT, but honestly, you can't rush me. I stay til I'm done. As for the character interaction, I've been when it was just cursory, sign the book and move on, and times where it was very special. But that is the case anywhere you go. We've had the same experience at Akershus.

The bottom line is that I think a lot of people look at the cost of dinner (or lunch or dinner) for the family at CRT and try to evaluate if it was worth the price. Well, if you look at it that way, then it never will. But you're paying for the venue. It's some of the priciest restaurant real estate you're going to find! Location, location, location! You're paying for the experience, not eggs and bacon.

Akershus is great too. Although unless you are seated back inside the main hall, it's not as pretty as the castle. The last 4 times we've been there, we have been seated right near the front door, once practically on top of the food bar. It was really cramped. Luck of the draw. Maybe next time we'll make it into the main room. We'll still go back.

1900 PF is an awesome meal too IF the characters are really on their game the night you are there. I've been when we were laughing so hard I thought I'd split my side. I've also been times where the best the characters could muster was "so, where you from". ANY meal can vary a lot just depending on how "on" the characters are when you are there.

It's all very situational. But if you've never been to CRT, I'd definitely start there. If you can add one of the others, do it. She'll only be this age for a short time. Of course my daughter is 9, and I am.... slightly more than 9...... :rotfl2: and we haven't outgrown it yet!

I would say go for the castle. Yes, it is ridiculously over priced, and I think the one at Epcot is just as good, since she is 6 and maybe nearing the end of the princess thing, I would go now. My DD is the same age and that's what we decided to do. I think that even though older girls will think the castle is special, at 6 they are still in that make believe stage--they won't stay in that for much longer!

I also don't think there's much of a need to do 2 princess meals in one trip--do BBB and then you can always see them in the parks--I think Epcot is the BEST place for the princesses! They are always at the same spots, and they stay out for most of the day.

The cost of the castle seems crazy, but with a 6 year old, it may be the one time that she is still over the moon about going. Good luck!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2i agree with the last 2 posters - we did crt for breakfast a year and a half ago during spring break - had cinderella upon entry, then belle, ariel, snow white, and jasmine made the rounds - each took time to get a pic with dd4 and dd3 and then a 2nd pic with dd1 in a high chair - each tried to chat the kids up a little bit - not rushed at all and it was a busy time in the park. food was good - it was breakfast, so pretty hard to mess it up - all you can eat, although i'm not sure that we made pigs of ourselves. service was good as well. you won't feel like you get your money's worth b/c of the food, but the atmosphere in the castle is well worth the price at least once and we felt like we should do it while the kids were young and really into the princesses.. actually going to have dinner there on xmas day as our "big gift" of the year for them. :thumbsup2

We did CRT and loved it (great characters). Next visit we are doing both CRT and Norway because we figure the window on princess interest is quickly closing...might as well enjoy it while it lasts!

Considering the cost of BBB, I would say going to more than one princess dining isn't out of the question. I love getting the perfect picture and having the perfect memory so the better your chances are of this with the more opportunities you have! I love the CRT (like I said before) for the castle aspect.

Norway makes me nervous because I have been a couple of times and Cinderella wasn't there. I know she has been there but I have been unlucky catching her :(.

I don't remember from your original post but what time of year are you going? Both the MNSSHP and MVMCP have unique princess character interations. I would consider going to one of the parties and meeting the princesses with their princes.

She will only be 6 once. And from the eyes of a 6 year old who loves Cinderella, you must eat in the Castle! :goodvibes Take lots of photos, which you will, and you will truly have a memory of a lifetime.

Eating in Norway is nice, but it is not her Castle. Eating at 1900 Park Faire is nice, but it is not her Castle. Like the pp stated, it isn't about the food, it's about the venue. Little girls and that Castle go together. And YOU will always remember it, too, each time you walk down Main Street. Heck, I get misty every time I see the opening to a Disney movie with that little animated version of the Castle! :rotfl: Takes me right back to the first time my DD ate there. (She was 8 months old and Snow White kissed her on her little chubby cheek, leaving a big lipstick mark - we loved it.)

You have a lifetime to visit all other venues with all other characters. When she is 6, do the Castle and if you want to do Norway or 1900, too, it will NOT be an overload for her. She will love it.

What a fun age, enjoy your trip.

wow, you are absolutely right! I never thought of the castle always being special after having eaten there!

Dh is not fond of two princess character meals in one trip(ds 8 is not into princesses either or characters for that matter, he is all about the roller coasters)so it looks like I am just going to choose one. I never put that much thought into the venue (being her actual castle) so tHanks to everyone who pointed out how special the castle would be for her. Cinderella is her favorite so I need to be guaranteed that we will see her and what better place than her castle!!??

So, I am going to do CRT for after her BBB makeover ......crossing my fingers that we get a spot!!!

We just did the Akershus princess breakfast again in May with our Granddaughter and she loved it. We have been to that breakfast twice with her. We have also done the breakfast at the castle and that is excellent too and Cinderella is her favorite, but it seems like she liked the Akershus one more because she had the chance to see more princesses in one place. I know it's a hard decision. Especially on your first trip. Whatever you decide, I know your daughter will love it.

Both are great......... but if it's a head to head (crown to crown??? :rotfl2:) count..... it's a draw. Both have one princess out front for pictures and 4 others roaming the dining room.

ok, I booked CRT for a 9:15 breakfast. DD is having the BBB makeover at 8:05 then off to the breakfast at 9:15. I am so excited that I got the reservation because I have heard they are hard to come by? Actually, there were several openings available which may mean the park may not be crowded the week we go? I can hope, right? This is the first week of Jan.....

Maybe if Disney isn't as crowded I can do a walk in Norway meal? By then DH may be Disney brainwashed and go for it. :)

Thank you everyone for your advice. You really helped me in my decision making.....now I can't wait!
