Given the current park pass types and a couple "concept passes", which one would suit your vacation pattern the best.

The two "DVC concept passes" are:

1) A DVC semi-annual pass, it would function the same as the AP, but it would expire after 6 months, and the cost would be half the AP rate.

2) A special DVC by the hour pass, this new DVC Pass would let you stay in the parks by the hour, instead of the whole day. It could work similar to a typical phonecard, you "clock in and clock out" of the parks. This would fit the typical DVCers vacations style much better, and it would encourage people to use the parks frequently just in shorter time periods. Hours would not expire.

Disney wouldn't even have to "discount" it, It would just be prorated to fit hour by hour usage, and it could also contain the typical flex features like the current hoppers. Disney could even charge 10-15% more (prorated) for this type of pass. Lets say ballpark of $7.00/hr.

Interesting "concept" passes!

While hoppers work well for us now, I could see a 6 month pass working great at 1/2 the price. If my math is correct, it would then only take 4-5 days in the WDW parks to make that pay off. It would basically kill the LOS passes (or UMPS, or whatever they're called).

How about one other "concept" pass......a 40 year unlimited admission pass. Take the present value of paying for annual passes for 40 years, and then discount that pretty heavily. Hey, it's just an idea. :p

My preferred concept pass is the current DVC 20 day pass. The pass expires in 5 years. The only thing wrong with it is that you can only use 5 days per year...and that's the only thing I'd change.

I'm not sure why Disney would sell a 1/2 year annual pass...doesn't seem like anything is in it for them. People who are currently buying Annual Passes because they are staying longer than 7 days would switch to this pass & it wouldn't be cost effective for Disney. Ditto for the hourly pass...plus I don't see them recouping the developmental cost for the pass

We seldom are in the parks every day during our vacations, so the hoppers have always served us best. The 6 month DVC pass sounds great, but "that dog won't hunt";)

We get APs and book two trips in side of 12 months then tale a longer break and do it again.
