Which park first Saturday in December?

Our first full day at the World will be Saturday, Dec. 6th. Normally we do the MK as our first park. However, the MK is open until 11 that night, with two runnings of Spectro, so my gut tells me to avoid the MK like that plague that day. Which park do you think would be the best place to be on that day? Which one is the least likely to fill with locals?

We'll be there too, although that will be our last full park day (until we return from our DCL cruise). Our plan right now calls for AK very early in the day and spend whatever time we want to there, and then a return to the hotel for a couple of hours of "recycling time". We're going to brave the MK that night. We were there the first Saturday of Dec. last year, and while it was wall-to-wall people, it was great. The holiday spirit was contagious!

If you can make Early Entry, I would do MGM. If it gets really crowded later in the day, hop over to Epcot or AK. I tend to like doing Epcot in the middle of my trip because it's a nice break from the other parks, but you could still spend a few hours there on Saturday. Epcot tends to absorb the crowds better than the other parks.

We will be there our first full day on the 6th also!! Our original plan was to go to the MK, but after seeing the times and crowds we are changing this. We are now going to the AK on Saturday and then going to MK on Monday the 8th!!

One more reason why you may NOT want to go to MK if you don't like crowds...They will be taping the Christmas parade on that day. I haven't heard who is supposed to perform or what order but as soon as I do I'll let you know in case your interested.

I'll be arriving that day too! We plan to head to the MK in the evening, just to see Spectro & Wishes. We don't have to find a curb spot, we just look for a space anywhere to stand so crowds are not a big deal.

Regarding the Christmas Parade, some of the celebrity spots are taped on different days. Regis & Kelly should be there, we saw them in 2001 (if they are the hosts again this year).

We've found AK to be particularly nice on Saturdays. We also have gone to Epcot in the evening...and though its a bit more crowded than on a weeknight, its nothing compared to the MK on a Saturday night when they're having the parades.

Of course, if you want to see Spectromagic you're pretty much stuck braving the Sat. night crowds. They really should do the parade at least once during the week to thin the crowds somewhat!

We saw Regis and Kelly last year in early Dec....actually saw Kelly with her kids being taken around by a tour guide. I really felt for her because she was pregnant, carrying a very big toddler, and wearing flip flops! Ouch! Then again, this year that will be me! (without the tour guide and with more supportive shoes...) There were various tapings, etc..going on the whole 2 weeks we were there.

I was kinda thinking AK too. I am not that bent on seeing Spectro this time, although it is running one of the weeknights that next week in December, so if I get the urge I can catch it then.

That is our first day in the parks too...

We are driving in from St. Pete Beach that day and plan on going to Epcot during the day and head to MK at 7 or 8 to get toontown and fantasyland done...If it's too crowded, maybe we will just leave...The JOY of an AP!!!

We're trying to decide whether MK that Saturday will be worth it or not as well. It's open later, so that's nice and we'd love to do some celeb sighting. However, I'm worried about the crowds. Are they awful? Or just awful compared to the early December peacefulness? I just can't decide.
