Which one WL, CR MKV or Poly?

We currently have CR MKV booked for December 7 - 16. Which I have been really excited about. But I have been reading the resort board and reading about how wonderful the WL is and how beautiful and peaceful the Poly is that now I'm questioning my decision. Since we are going in December I started thinking that the WL would be the best choice because of all the Christmas decorations. Then I started thinking that maybe the Poly would be a better choice because of the larger rooms and both my kids seem to really like the look of the poly from the pictures I have shown them.

My husband keeps telling me they won't care where we stay at, they will be too excited to be at Disney, which I know he is right. It's just so hard trying to pick the right resort for your family, I'm sure any of them would be great. I just wanted a few opinions on what you guys thought to maybe help me finally pick a resort and stick with it. :)

Thanks!

BTW, I have a DD4 and a DD11 and I LOVE the DIS. I don't post alot, but I read alot on here and have gained alot of information for our upcoming trip. Thanks so much!!! I should post more instead of just being a lurker. :)

The Poly really isn't going to be any better than the CR in terms of Christmas decorations so if you want that, you should definitely stay at the WL or at the Grand Floridian (if you book a garden view room there it is cheaper than the CR MKV).

Also, the rooms at the CR are larger than most of the rooms at the Poly. It's just the rooms in Rapa Nui, Tahiti, and Tokelau that are bigger. If you are not assigned a room in those buildings, however, than the CR rooms are usually bigger.

If you're looking for great Christmas decorations, the WL should be your #1 choice, followed by the GF. :)

WL! We stayed there Dec 06 and it was gorgeous!

I probably wouldn't give up the location of the CR or that view, but what do you think you'll be looking at more? The castle from your balcony each night, or the lobby decorations? It's easy enough to hop on a boat and visit the WL for lunch and see the decorations. You may even want to consider booking a holiday sleigh ride from there. In terms of where I'm laying my head down at night though, it would definitely be the CR, draperies open, staring at the castle changing color :cloud9: .

Thanks for your responses. :)

I love the look of the WL and I'm sure it is beautiful at Christmas, but my main concern with staying there is the room size. The CR rooms are much larger from what I've read on here.

I made a list of the Pros and Cons that I have with each of the 3 resorts and the only cons I think of for the Wilderness Lodge would be:

Cons WL:
1. size of room
2. not on the monorail

Cons CR:
1. Lack of Holiday feel? (I don't know for sure since I've never been there, just the perception I have of it)
2. Food and Fun Center won't be open from what I've read due to rehab.

Cons PR:
1. Again lack of Holiday feel? (just my perception, have never been there)

And really when I think about it how important is the Holiday look of the resort anyway? I don't think my girls are going to care either way...We are still going to MVMCP so we will have that.

Here are the Pros I have listed for each one:

Pro WL:
1. Great theming
2. All under 1 roof in case of bad weather
3. Cheaper then the other deluxe resorts (which my husband likes, cheap is a widely used word in his vocabulary)

Pro CR:
1. Best View for MK (girls will love)
2. Convenience
3. Large Rooms

Pro PR:
1. Beautiful surroundings
2. Convenience
3. Large Rooms
4. Although my husband likes the fact that the WL is cheaper, he prefers the tropical theme of this resort more and would rather stay here over the WL.

I thought about doing a split stay, but DH does not want to do this and actually I think it would be a pain to deal with also.

I'm a huge fan of the Poly...highly recommended by this former CM.

Cheers,
Josh

Price wise, the Poly and CR are pretty comparable. The major differences are theme, location and possibly view. The Poly has "theme park" view, which may not necessarily mean the castle.

On the other hand, a switch to the WL bunk bed rooms will save you about $1200. Yes, the rooms are a little smaller and you lose the location and the amazing view. There's certainly a lot you can do with that $1200 though.

I don't envy your decision.

I would keep you're Contemporary Magic Kingdom view because that is best possible view you can get at any Walt Disney World Resort and it's a very popular view which sells out very fast. So my advice if you wish to cancel it do it soon, because I am sure there would be others who would want that view around the dates you are suppost to be there.

Ok, thanks everyone for your advice. I'm going to keep what I've got booked already. I just can't pass up that view and I know if I were to let it go and then change my mind again it would be gone. Thanks for all your help.

You're welcome and I think you made the smart decision by keeping you're Magic Kingdom view at the Contemporary. So enjoy it because I have a feeling you're family is going to love it a lot. :thumbsup2

If I could pick any resort in all of Disneyworld to stay in I would pick the Poly so I am biased. :)
