We are looking at buying resale DVC points. BWV points seem to be cheaper to buy then the BCV.

What are the real differences?

I know that Beach Club is closer to Epcot. From what we can tell beach club has a nicer pool.

Better is too subjective of a term. You'll get arguments on both sides.

BCV is one of the resorts we own at and have stayed multiple times (have only stayed at BWV one night). The BCV pros for us include the size (small), walk to epcot and BW, the pool, and close parking lot. #1 is really the walk to epcot for us.

If you haven't stayed at either it's going to be difficult to decide "better". We sold BCV for BWV. We're realized we're not huge on SAB, like both the standard view and boardwalk view categories at BWV, like that it has reasonable walks to 2 parks (vs one for BCV) and like the community hall by the quiet pool. I do wish they had something like The Marketplace but can get by with the other options on the boardwalk. My other wish for BWV would be dedicated 2BR's but the few times we do a 2BR there it's good enough with the lock-off.

We own at BWV and believe it the better of the two but I am sure most BCV owners believe the same about BCV. On a neutral note, you cannot go wrong with an Epcot resort for location -- boat and walking access to two parks, more than two dozen restaurants between the parks and the two parks, and nightly entertainment. BCV is closer to Epcot but BWV is only a few minutes longer and BWV has the shorter walk to Studios. As a BWV owner, you can get boardwalk view, one of the best views on site looking over the lake at Spaceship Earth in the distance. BCV has no premier views to speak of. BWV also has lower point cost standard view, for which, like boardwalk view, you also usually need that 11 month booking window, and those standard rooms, whose views are not bad at all, are the best bargain on site -- about OKW cost for premium location. BWV also has the advantage that the main pool is on the BWV side of the resort, unlike BCV where you have to walk over to the area between BC and YC. The BWV pool is good, although admittedly Stormalong Bay is the best pool on site.

Both the boardwalk resorts and the Beach Club resorts have good restaurants, and I am actually very partial to Cape May Cafe at BC but I do not look at the restaurants as a reason to favor one or the other resort because when going to dinner, you can easily go anywhere in the Epcot resort area from either BCV or BWV. The same applies to Boardwalk having its own nightly entertainment; you can also easily get to it from BCV.

Recently, the bus system changed at BWV. It now has its own bus to MK, where it used to share with Swan/Dophin. That change was one needed since BWV opened in the 1990's (when it also shared with YC/BC) and apparently my 17 years of sending letters and then emails, requesting that the bus system at BWV be improved (it was one of the worst on site) has finally paid off. Thus, though BWV is still not the best bus system, it has improved to likley be rated at least equal with BCV.

BWV's parking arrangement, with the lot some distance from the front of the resort is not as good as the nearby parking you can get at BCV. Also, BWV can at times, like when there is an event in the convention facilities at the resort, have parking issues with the main lot being filled, requiring parking in more distant satellite lot.

As to resale prices, BWV is generally lower than BCV although these days the difference between the two has been shrinking. One of the main reasons for the price difference is just historical. BWV opened several years before BCV and most of the original BWV owners paid an average price per point about $15 less than those who later purchased BCV with the result that a spread has always existed in the resale market because BWV owners do not need to charge as much as BCV owners to break even or make a profit in the sale.

We own a few pts at BWV for the 11 mos booking for Food n Wine Festival. With that being said, we prefer BWV over BCV. Our thinking is we arent into the beach look as much, BWV, though it is based on a water feel, doesnt scream beach. SAB is a great pool at BCV, and they do have some nice options in eats. But BWV has some of this too, plus the varying types of rooms. Also, proximity to both parks overall is a little better IMO. We can walk to either park in a matter of 15 mins or less, depending on what area you are staying in.

As a pp stated.. Thats too broad a question, on which is better?

It'll vary from a lot of different factors.

They both have pros & cons...BCV is closer to EPCOT while BWV is closer to HS. and viceversa. Decor or theming is a matter of your personal favorite.

They both have nice pool areas....I personally like Luna Park Pool a lil better. It's way easier to manage / keep an eye on the kids here than at SAB...Don't get me wrong, SAB is nice, (LARGE) but it's too spread out for me, and a lil dangerous if you ask me....Too many separations/ amongst the various pools, Lazy river being anything but LAZY..( Moves rather swiftly, and is very deep in this area as well) **:confused3 Odd? Also the water slide is a bit puzzling as well..You actually have to leave the gated area, go across the main/common path up the staiars then slide back down into the compound.... Kinda hard for 1 parent thats not sliding to keep an eye on lil ones...

Both have a great array of different dining options

Ypou really can't go wrong w/ either IMHO, but choose what your gut is telling you....Remember 1 thing, This is Disney, being bad is really not bad at all...LoL

For me the quiet pools and the value of the Standard rooms make BWV a better choice.

We own at both& I mostly book BCV when it is swimming weather, and BWV for cool weather trips.

We own points at both. We ALWAYS use our BWV points for booking at the 11 month window, and use our BCV points at the 7 month window. We purchased the BCV points first, and then realized that we enjoy booking the standard view rooms at BWV, so we purchased the BWV points.

I know both resorts are under going renovations. Does anyone know if these resorts will get the Murphy bed like they have at the GFV?

They should be just about finished I'm thinking, with the refurbs at BWV at least....

There have been a few threads about the reno's, but to answer your question, Yes the pull down Murphy is installed....
We were on the 5th floor 3rd room down from the elevators this past August...bed was a huge plus, and we actually had the biggest balcony facing the Luna Park Pool.... Rooms are not decorated the same as they used to be, sorta blanded down a lil b ut still nice.

Me & DH are not hung up on views. A bad view means we have to go outside and see stuff :) We don't want to be in our room while on vacation.

I wonder though, how visible is Illuminations from the boardwalk area?

BWV standard views are very economical. Close to OKW in points to stay. And IMO BCV is not that much closer to Epcot. Plus the Luna park pool is fun and less crowded. Oh plus room views...but everyone values amenities differently!

Any chance they will retire the clown? My DD thinks it is creepy lol!

Not sure about illuminations from Boardwalk, you can see a good portion of it from the lounge chairs on the beach at BCV but truthfully I think the best non-park view is the walkway between the two hotels heading to EPCOT lol!

The high Illuminations fireworks are visible from the boardwalk. The BW view rooms all have a fireworks view, with the rooms that are on higher floors and further towards Atlantic Dance Hall having the best view of Illuminations. BW view rooms can also see MK fireworks in the distance. Some of the BWV standard view rooms can also see some of Illuminations, though not as much as BW view rooms.

That is what I meant, where outside the resort to view the fireworks.
