Which of these restaurants should I order the steak

I have a lot of fine dining restaurants for my upcoming birthday trip. I noticed for a lot of them my eye gravitates towards the Filet mignon (only type of steak I like) but I feel like if I order that every night for a week I'll be sick and sick of it. So which of the below restaurants is a steak a must and which should I try something different.

California Grill - I noticed they just changed their menu so it looks different for a lot of items. Is the seafood ramen good here?

Le Cellier - main reason for going is their filet so probably getting that.

Yachtsman Steakhouse - since this is a steakhouse I'm guessing ordering something besides a steak is silly?

Monsieur Paul - what else is good here besides the filet?

Flying Fish - I don't like actual fish but I do like scallops are they a good choice? The lobster pasta sounds good but is really expensive

A little information:
I'm not on the dining plan. I don't like any type of fish except lobster, shrimp, and scallops. Out of this whole list I've only been to California Grill before (had the filet and liked it)

Is this too much fine dining for one trip and I should change one? I'm going with my boyfriend and he's a big steak eater so I don't think he'd have an issue eating steak almost every night.

Any and all thoughts welcomed!

At Monsieur Paul, I've had and enjoyed the seared sea scallop and free-range chicken dishes. The Hokkaido scallops at FF were very good, as was the lobster pasta and that night's sustainable fish. I've never had the filet mignon at either so I can't comment on the quality.

I have had it, however, at Le Cellier and Yachtman's Steakhouse. It was okay at Le Cellier, but I had to send it back as my cut wasn't cooked how I prefer and was tough. Yachtman's was much better. California Grill did just receive an updated menu, but that was to be expected as they operate with a seasonal menu. I haven't seen the new menu but in the past, I've had the Hokkaido scallops, seafood ramen, grilled pork, filet, and beef short ribs there. All were up to par.

Best filet I've ever had was at Artist Point.
I haven't been to some of the other places on your list, some of the places we've been to I didn't order beef.
I do love scallops, they had great scallops at Artist Point as well.

I thought LeCellier was a bit overrated, if I were to drop one from your list I would drop that and switch to Artist Point.

In my mind there is no such thing as too much fine dining, but given the limit on proteins you have you may want to consider some more non-signature options like Via Napoli for the pizza or Sanaa for the stews to so you don't end up eating the same thing all the time.

That said, if you to to Yachtsman do not get anything other than steak. They are heavenly and worth the indulgence. You'll have many more options at California Grill than filet. As you suggested the ramen is quite good and I love all their apps, especially the flat breads, which may be a good way for you to go vice an entree. At flying fish I haven't had the scallops but the restaurant is divine so I would expect nothing less. I've had the lobster pasta and it is very good, but not worth the price tag.

Thanks everyone this has been really helpful!

@brertoad Le Cellier is the only one I can't drop since it's the one restaurant my boyfriend picked. We had tried the filet during the food and wine last year and it was really good. Does it not taste like that inside the restaurant?

From your list, I would recommend definitely having a steak at Yachtsman. I was vegetarian for years and have been occasionally coming back to eating a little meat and fish. This started last December with having a filet with creamed spinach and a glass of pinot noir at Yachtsman. It had been over a decade since I had beef, and my meal did not disappoint.

All of those, but LC which is like a really noisy outback IMHO, are great. I think maybe the food would seem better if the atmosphere wasn't like what I imagine goes down in a Golden Corral. Its noisy, cramped, and just chaotic; basically nothing I want out of a dining experience, more or less a fine dining one.

Ya'll will both have lots of choices with the rest of your list and it sounds great! The duck at MP is delicious, its changed over time and always yum. The scallops at FF are too. Bluezoo/Il Mulino might be a different way to go as well. CG has tons of stuff on their menu, and I've probably been 30 times and I've never had steak there, although I like steak a lot, but their sushi is well done and the goat cheese rav app and an heirloom tomato salad is delicious for dinner too! Yachtsman - the steak and garlic are amazing, I think Shula's is better on sides, but I'd have to do a cage fight of steak to decide who has a better cut. Just remember to eat a very light lunch before those big meals, I mean Dole Whip is a well rounded lunch, right?

Sounds like a great trip!

lol I like your Dole Whip suggestion! On all those days besides Le Cellier we don't have a lunch planned so might skip or have a late breakfast or something, going to play that by ear. All the comments about Le Cellier have me scared but my boyfriend was pretty firm about us not changing it so fingers crossed it'll be good

If you are doing LeCellier, I would recommend looking up food photos before your trip, get a look at what is coming out of the kitchen, maybe TripAdvisor has current photos and some reviews.
I remember we were very disappointed with their poutine dish. Also, as some mentioned, the restaurant is really cramped. Servers kept bumping into my husband as they walked past. And, they sat us right next to loud people even if the place was 95% empty. Just saying it wasn't my favorite signature dining experience.

My husband enjoyed his steak here, as did I for taste. However, the richness of the whole meal did leave me sick for awhile, as my stomach was not used to that much richness, so a light lunch would definetly be recommended by me. I think they are going for taste here, and must throw butter and fat in everything, lol.

I totally agree with you! Best steak i've EVER had in disney was definitely artist point. Cooked perfectly, the sides and dessert was also perfect. Overall outstanding meal. Le Cellier, totally overrated. I agree. I'd drop that one for Arist Point as well. :) Cali Grill use to be my fave but since the refurb the food has gone down hill. Pretty disappointing. :(

The only one I could replace is Flying Fish. Should I change that one to Artist Point?

Skip the steak at LeCellier. Just eat the soup and breadsticks and run!

No, the one at Food and Wine from the booth was actually a lot better then poor quality piece of meat they served me. Not to mention the service was probably friendlier and better at the booth LOL!

If your boyfriend really wants to eat there, go but don't have your hopes high! And if you are planning on this being romantic or relaxing, think again. You will be seated elbow to elbow with the other tables so when junior at the next table acts out you will be right in the middle of the adventure!

ha ha. love this post. I agree about eating the soup and breadsticks and running. My steak wasnt that good at all. Although im not a fan of the soup so i'd grab the breadsticks and run lol.

And yes, its VERY cramped in Le Cellier. Not at all romantic. Lets just say that i couldve easily put my arm around the person next to me. And yes, Lawd help you if you have a family with a a screaming kid next to you.

You're all scaring me lol. I hope it's not all that bad since I have no choice in the matter about going. We aren't usually bothered by other diners around us so I don't think the closeness will bother us. If it turns out bad I can tell my boyfriend it's his fault we went :p
