Which Monorail resort do you prefer and why?

if staying at the poly or gf and we had purchased advancrd 10 day tickets..I wouldn't need the TTC, right? If I do not need the TTC then I can just get on the monorail and go to MK, but if I were going to Epcot, I would have to go to the TTC, right? :confused3

My favorite MK resort was the Polynesian hands down! BUT, after a recent trip to the Contemporary...I have to say it slightly edges it out. Mainly because you're already inside the building to get to the Monorail! Just a quick steps to the elevator, up the escalator, and bam! youre there :3dglasses

Right!

The Magic Kingdom monorail stops at the Contemporary, TTC, Poly, and Grand Flo. There's also an express monorail that just goes between the TTC and Magic Kingdom.

To get to Epcot from the MK area, you need to board the Epcot monorail at the TTC. Or (I think) you can take a bus from any of the MK resorts. We've always used the monorail, so maybe someone else can confirm if busses run from the MK resorts to Epcot.

My first choice would be the CR. The new rooms look like they are going to be gorgeous, but I was ok with the old rooms. They wouldn't be my first pick in decor, but they weren't as bad as I thought they would be. The major pros:

1. You can walk to MK, and it's an easy, short walk. At the end of the night, we walked right past the long lines for the monorail and buses and headed back to our room.

2. The TTC is only one stop away. This makes getting to Epcot a little quicker.

3. You are first on/first off the bus to MGM. That is the only bus we took, so I don't know about AK.

4. If you walk over to MK, you can catch a bus to any non-monorail resort easily. From the MK, you also have boat access to GF, Poly, WL.

5. There is a boat launch from the CR to FW/WL.

6. The tower view of the castle is so close!

My second choice would be the Polynesian. From there you can walk to the TTC for more transportation choices (and to get directly on the Epcot monorail without having to transfer). The grounds are absolutely beautiful!

I have no real desire to stay at GF, so I don't know much about it. It's funny, because when we went to WDW on our honeymoon in May 1988, they were building the GF. I kept bugging dh about going back and staying there. Now it isn't anywhere near the top of my list. I don't know why, though, so I'm certainly not saying that it's a bad choice.

We have stayed that the CR and Poly, and I would vote for the Poly. Although the walk is farther from your room, the resort is beautiful, the volcano slide is great, and the TTC is a short walk away for added convenience.

Definitely prefer the Polynesian. The theming is more magical to us than the other monorail resorts. But they are all nice in one way or another.

Love the Poly for its laid-back atmosphere. Wander the grounds at night with your SO, very romantic.

Splitting a mighty fine hair here. Having stayed at them all, & gun-to-the-head pressure to choose...I'd go GF. Even though we enjoy walking to MK and finding our "brick" when at CR.

Tough choice, you won't go wrong with any. You'll just have to try them all!

For us we prefer the GF with the Poly a very close second. We love the atmosphere and the room size at the GF. Someone mentioned above that the GF had the smallest rooms but I heard in the past that they have the biggest. Does anyone know for sure? The Poly is great b/c it feels more compact to us (not sure if actually true or just a good room location for us) and it is close to the TTC. They both have fabulous restaurants. The CR just doesn't appeal to us at all.
