Ok we are going to be having a special dinner in Epcot and we want to do drinks before. Somewhere on the monorail so we don't need a car. I know we could do an EPCOT bar but we'd rather not for this outing. Plenty of time for those the following day. So what would you suggest and why? TIA.

Cali grill now that it is opening! We liked Tambu at the Poly, except, well, they froze us out! It was so cold our teeth were chattering!

We liked the lounge in the Poly. If it is nice, try the one by the pool, and enjoy the beach. If not, stroll to the Tambu lounge. Lots of cozy seating.

So that's 2 votes for Poly. Thanks! Anyone have any feelings toward Contemporary bars/ lounges? Does the new Cali Grill have a bar/ lounge?

Yes CG has a bar but not sure of opening date. The Wave on first floor boasts a "blue bar area". However Tambu Lounge is my fav with GF Mizners lounge 2nd.

You can walk from poly to catch monorail at TTC if necessary.

Also the chicken wings at TL are the best. Many of the CMs have worked at TL for many years too.

The drinks there are all fun. Lapu-Lapu anyone? I could go for one!

We've been to all the lounges on the Monorail. Without a doubt, Mizners at the Grand is the more intimate. The Tambu lounge at the Poly is tropically themed, which is nice, but its very crowded because of the popularity of 'Ohana.

CG is opening Sept. 9th. They now have 2 observation decks that customers can use for a great view of MK right next door.

TL has the most themed area and a view of MK. It also looks out over the Poly waterfall lobby. If it is busy you can also sit in the lobby seating.

Mizner's never struck me. It does not have as extensive theming or a view. It looks over the GF grounds (hopefully not over the construction? Though my memory places them at the same sides/direction - that could be interesting though!) but it is basically behind the band. So if the band is playing it may be worth it for the music. With how grand the GF is I just always thought they could do much more with it. Just a view of the lobby would make it magnificent. Tables along the railings and I'd go every time!

if you are eating at Epcot - then would go with the bar at BC - short walk.

kept in mind if you go with the Monorail - you are close to the MK not Epcot - so after you get your drinks you have to go to TTC and change monorails to get to Epcot.

so would go with an Epcot resort -
they are closer to Epcot
and you still have choice

BW, BC, YC, D&S.

come to think of it - there might be a better bar in D&S

now eating at the MK - then go with CR Polyn or GF

Not if the band is playing. If the band is playing, it's so loud, you can barely hold a conversation with someone.

Good point. I guess we've sat further away from the band so it was more background music.

My husband and I really enjoy a pre-dinner drink at the Wave. It's never really crowded and has a cool atmosphere. We also like Tambu Lounge, but the last 2 times we were there it was super crowded.
