Our family is interested instaying at a moderate resort on our next trip - Carribean, Coronado, PORiverside, or POFrenchQuarter. In the past we've stayed at Deluxe resorts and have based our choice on theme of resort. But all of the moderates appeal to us. How can we decide? Can you tell me any of the pros and cons you found with any of thes resorts? Thanks!

P.S. Trip will be for me, Hubby, and 3 kids - 6,4,&1.

We have stayed at all of the deluxe resorts, but POR is still my favorite resort. The food court with a 13 year old boy is a must. I like the quiet pools. We stay in AB, it's beautiful. We have stayed there 7 times and never had a problem with housekeeping or guest services. Hmm, what else? A nice boat ride to DD. Okay bus service, I would rather drive. The piano player in the lounge is worth the price to stay there alone!

Another vote for POR -

We stayed there may of 2001 and thought it was absolutely beautiful. We also stayed in Alligator Bayou and we had a water view room. The food court was great. We did the Surrey bikes around the resort and had a great time. The boat ride to DTD was alot of fun and very relaxing.

I love CBR because of the theme and because we like that aside from the main pool, there is a pool in each island. We thought Old Port Royale had a great food selection although we haven't been there since it's been done over. It's nice to relax on the hammocks on the beaches at the end of the day because it's so relaxing and peaceful. They also have boats and bikes to rent and a playgrounds for the kids.

Unfortunately they all have small pros and cons that still make it hard to choose.
CBR has a little bit larger rooms that have all been remodeled in the last year and a half. The food court was also remodeled and they have a new restaurant. The have lots of pools and a fun main pool with a small slide. Allot of people do not like all the bus stops that yoiu sometiems have to wait through until you leave or after you arrive at the resort by bus. Some of the rooms can be a bit of a walk to the main part of the resort.
CSR has some interestingly themed sections and great arcitecture
and very colorful rooms. The main pool is large and very impressive looking. The quiet pools have always been very quiet when I was there. I love the food at the food court though it isn't my favorite as far as the atmosphere goes. Rooms here can be a bit of a walk to main areas.
POR has two great looking sections and some nice formal gardens as well as a forest. The rooms are more subdued than the above resorts. There are allot of trees here. The pool is large though not as fun of a thme as the other two (IMHO). The food court has loads of atmosphere and good food. This to can have some rooms that are a decent walk to the main area.
POFQ is my least favorite but that is only because of the exicution of the theme. It is still pretty and it is nice to NOT have a bit of a walk to the main area. There are loads of trees and gardens here too. The food court is okay and has some fun things in it. Bus service was good.
I think since they are all similar you should choose which theme everyone in your family votes for. :)

I have stayed at CSR, CBR, POR. CBR is my favorite with POR a close second. We were just at CBR and it was great. Stayed at POR in November and had a great time also. You can't go wrong with any of them.

POR. The kids'll enjoy the catch and release fishing and you'll enjoy the boat ride to DD - even if you only use it as a pleasurable boat ride. We love POR. It's very relaxing, plus you can also use the pool at FQ for variety. Also at CBR you walk thru the gift shop to get to the food court. This can be a bit distracting with little ones.

I have finally stayed at all 4 moderates (yippee!) and rank them in this order: POR, CBR (a very close second), CSR (a solid 3rd) and POFQ a distant 4th. You can't go wrong with either POR or CBR. Just close your eyes and pick. Then have a great time!!!

;) Thank you all for your opinions on the resorts. You've given us a lot of good info to take into consideration while making our decision. Again thanks for such a great response!(As always!!)

If you like a resort with a great pool area and awesome transportation. Check out my website for info and pictures. Good luck deciding!

I now prefer CSR over CBR. I know every one has an opinion. The pool is larger and there is an arcade and snack bar at teh pool and a playground. There are only 4 bus stops and buses run pretty well. I like the seclection of food in the Pepper Market.

Just have a great time.:)

Have stayed at POR, CBR, and POFQ:jester: Our first choice hands down is POFQ:jester:. CBR also a great choice.

We love the FQ because of it's compact size, and the pool is great too. Nothing was to far of a walk, food court, bus stop all close by.

POR is just not for us. I know there are quite a few people who love it but it's just not right for us. We even tried it again 2 years ago and it wasn't any better than the first time. We would be hard pressed to stay there again.

We'll be at POFQ 2/28-3/8 to celebrate Mardi Gras:jester:.

We absolutely LOVE POR!! It is a wonderful resort. So relaxing and peaceful. Have a wonderful trip!:D

CBR and CSR could present some pretty long walks if you don't get a room close to the food courts.

CBR has the worst pool, in my humble opinion. CSR has the best.

I love FQ for its small size and theming. But, I do miss the bikes, boats and lounge entertainment.

I think the best value is Coronado. There's a fitness center on site - it has bikes, boats, and a great pool.

I liked POR when it was Dixie Landings. It seemed to lose a little identity when it became POR. POR is beautiful in May, though. The smell of magnolias everywhere.

Of course, you could resort hop, that is, switch resorts during your trips and stay at two moderates.

My favorite moderate is CS, particularly the cabanas section.

I was planning to stay at POR - AB until I heard what I did today! Read the thread "Very negative POR report" for details. I don't know what to do for five people now!
