We have always stayed at the Value resorts, offsite or at Shades of Green and are considering a moderate hotel. Which one would you recommend and why?

DH and I are staying at Port Orleans Riverside for our anniversary trip to Disney.......it's DH's favorite moderate....he says it should be a deluxe! :cheer2:

We love CSR because it is truely a beautiful resort, has a great main pool are (the best of the mods) and terrific transportation along with 2 great places to eat.

CSR does not share transportation with other resorts and though it is a large resort, it only has 4 bus stops. It also offers its guests an internal shuttle system if you do not want to walk.

Check out my CSR website below for pics, links and info.

We just spent a wonderful 6 nights/7 days at Port Orleans French Quarter. I think it's the most peaceful of the moderates. I liked the theming and the close proximity of everything. My daughter actually spend a day and a half in bed with a fever and sore throat there, and I was very grateful for the quiet and ease of getting around during that time!

The rooms have been recently renovated and the beds were extremely comfortable. I didn't mind the bus stops at POR since there were only 3 or 4 and they went quickly. Coming back from the parks, French Quarter gets dropped off first and it's an easy walk from the bus stop to the rooms. The resort is fairly centrally located, too, although it's closest to Epcot.

There's also the added benefit of having a boat to Downtown Disney.

I love, love POR. It's so nice to just walk around and look at the landscaping, and relax in the pool!

:maleficen Of the moderates, I have stayed at CSR and POR. I love the lush landscaping of POR, Ol' Man River Pool, and the boat to DTD. I can appreciate the folks who like CSR better, but you can even book carriage rides at POR. How romantic!

Hi,

Over the years we have stayed at POFQ twice, CBR twice, CSR once and we just returned from our first stay at POR in the AB section.

I never thought that I would post this but I would reconmend POR. It is beautiful and we found everything to be great. It is large but we did not feel it was over whelming. In the past I have posted that I did not care of the old south type themeing. We only stayed at POR this past trip because we were traveling with friends that have three children and they could not swing a deluxe so we were left with POR. I went with the mind set of making the best of it for the sake of the kids but my husband and I ended up really liking the resort and we have both agreed that even though AKL is our fav with the S/D coming in second if we could not get good rates at either of these properties we would definetly stay at POR again.

Thank you all for your comments (and beautiful pictures) I really appreciate your thoughts.

My favorites are the POF (small and more romantic feeling to me) and Coronado Springs. CSR is one that had to grow on me, but I really love it now.

Denise

My fave is CSR and 2nd is POR (the popo from my sig)

imo pofq looks like a house of ill repute (the first time I ever saw it was at night and the red exit signs were on and it just looked like something from a red light district)- this is just my opinion- no one else has to share it :) :smooth:

We love POFQ. It is definitely quiet, feels like a quaint little town. I think it is charming! We were big on POR when it was DL, then tried the POFQ and haven't looked back!! I'd stick with either of those two.

POFQ is our fav. It is small and peaceful, very pretty, not a far walk to anything, beignets, newly refurbished, and just a great resort. (did I mention beignets?) POR is very pretty, loved the mansions, but larger than POFQ and much longer walks. Either way- you're in Disney right??? Have fun!!!

We like them all. All of them are great. Just pick the theming you like the best and go with that. You can't go wrong with any of the resorts.

The only mod we stayed at was POR and we loved it. Extra advantages to staying at POR or POFQ is that you are permitted to pool hop between the 2 resorts. Also, there is boat transportation to Downtown Disney.

That said, all of the mods seem beautiful. I don't think you can go wrong with any choice.

CSR for us! We love the pool, the grounds and the restaurants. Oh, and the bus service is very good too.

We've stayed at quite a few places on Disney property but love POR-AB (Port Orleans Riverside -- Alligator Bayou for the newbies) the best. Our last trip was to CB (Caribbean Beach) and I'd never stay there again.

Just my opinion!

Another vote for CSR!! We fell in love with the place. Beautiful grounds, a great pool and slide and the bus service is fantastic. Give the slide a try, even adults can use it.

What was it about CBR that you didn't like? We just changed our May '06 reservations from POR (which we loved, just wanted to try something else) to CBR.

Thanks!
Karla B. :sunny:

I love the photos of CSR. We have a 5 yr old DS. Would children love the resort too? Any reviews of CSR with children?
