Going with my parents and we have decided to stay at one of the moderates, but they are leaving it up to me to choose which one...and I can't make a decision! I've stayed at all of them, and like all of them for different reasons. They are both 62 years old and not very active. They are already not big Disney fans...so if I screw this up, I'll never hear the end of it!! Thanks for the help! :worship:

Moderates are going to naturally attract families, but from my research I think one of the Port Orleans would be good... Small, and charming.

My mom (74 years old) and I have stayed at both Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside. While both are nice, we both definitely prefer French Quarter. It is 1/2 the size of the other moderates. Even the farthest room is still close to the bus stop. It is also a bit quieter than Riverside. We LOVE Port Orleans French Quarter and recommend it to everyone we know!

POFQ is the most compact of the moderates, so it will involve less walking than the others. It's a really pretty resort, with lovely landscaping and benches to sit and enjoy the scenery.

The boat service to DTD is also something your parents would likely enjoy. It's beautiful and relaxing, and the easy access to DTD expands your dining options.

While I haven't stayed at a mod yet (booked by got a pixie dust upgrade to Grand Floridian), when I was researching for my Mom (also in her 60's) and I we chose Port Orleans French Quarter. It is compact, easy to navigate, subtle theming and a good food court.
Hope you have a great trip.

I would have to agree with POFQ due to size, second would be CSR, for very good bus service.

I would vote POFQ. It is compact, so perfect for someone who is not quite as active. The fountains and riverside location are quite beautiful and very peaceful.

Although my heart belongs to CSR, I think with "inactive" parents I would go with POFQ since it is the smallest.

My parents stayed twice at POFQ - they loved the short walks to the pool, bus stop, food court, etc.

I am 64! With the others POFQ is small and has the boat to DTD plus is about a 7 min walk to the food court, boatworks(TS) and Piano Bob at POR.

Now my choice would be AB 16 at POR. Has all the above and is a 5 min walk to the great food court and next to one of the quiet pools. For my 2 cents closer than the mansions to the food court and such a beautiful walk etc... You can cut across the parking lot to the south or west bus.

The next best resort would be CBR prefered. Awesome south seas feel and right next to food and bus. A beach right out front plus TS. Only drawback is full size beds but if that is not a problem then a good choice.

Another vote for POFQ. It is compact which will be perfect for non-active seniors. You can take the boat to DTD for a leisurely activity. It is not overly Disney themed as far as characters and such. It is quiet and peaceful.

Thanks guys! I think we will try the French Quarter! :thumbsup2 Hoping the trip goes smooth! :woohoo:

Looks like you've already made your decision.... but I'll go ahead and agree with French Quarter. My parents are in their late 60's. We've stayed 3x at French Quarter. This past January we stayed at Riverside. They did like Riverside, but both much preferred the small size of FQ. They wouldn't stay at Riverside again unless they were able to get a Preferred room. However, it doesn't really seem to make sense to pay an extra $25-30 per night for a preferred room at Riverside when you would essentially get the same thing at FQ without paying extra. The other issue my parents would have with a preferred room at Riverside is that they don't have elevators. Of course, you can request ground floor... but it's only a request and not guaranteed. There is no way my Dad could risk stairs, so FQ is definitely the better bet for them.

Have Fun! Your parents will love FQ!

Although I would choose both csr and p o r I would definitely go with csr's my first choice. Coronado springs to me would fit the bill a little bit better than 4 orleans riverside because it's a convention resort not as many families or families with small kids, in comparison with the other resorts. Plus the bus system at this resort is the best on property port orleans does have the boat though.

My Mom is 67 and my Dad is 73. My Mom was a diehard fan of CBR and my Dad is NOT a Disney lover at all. A few years ago I convinced them to try POFQ instead of CBR and they both love the resort. My Mom has a hard time walking very far and the size of the resort is perfect for her. We've been staying at POFQ for our last few family trips. While they can't promise, the cms have always accommodated us with ground floor rooms that are right beside the food court/front desk area. Everything is close here no matter which building you're in.

Good point...:rolleyes1

Congrats on your choice. I recomended AB16 because you would get like prefered but not pay that but when you mentioned stairs you would have to request Gfloor and may not get it so POFQ sounds like the best for you. The Mansions are to much walking.

I would rec. a bike ride to POR and around the grounds. I think they would enjoy! DTD by boat is a must and a romantic cariage ride too! Enjoy.

If they are like us oldies and are up early the RD at the parks and back after lunch for a nap or swim then off for TC ADR and evening fire works. Being 64 we need that break in the day. We tried to go all day the first three days and it did not work for us. Don't let them over do.

We are taking my parents - same age as yours, 62 and certainly not about to run marathons LOL - and I chose Port Orleans Riverside.

I chose it because of the beautiful, tranquil surroundings and, even though it is bigger than POFQ, from my understanding, nothing is more than a few minutes walk which I actually thought would be nice for them, you know, a slow stroll through lovely landscaping.

I just really believe that this resort will be good for them psycologically, know what I mean?
