I am trying to decide on a resort for our May 06 trip. We always rent a car. We have two little ones. 1 and 4 on the trip. We like a resort where we can get a 1st floor room and be really close to where we park our car. At the value resorts this has never been an issue what about at a moderate? Which one do you think we could get right up close by a parking lot yet still not be miles from the pool and food court?

Thanks!

I don't know specific rooms, but the parking lots run right up next to the buildings at both CBR and CSR. So even the far side of the buildings at both are fairly close tot he parking areas. Having said that, it also depends a little how crowded the resort is when you are there, as to where in the parking lot you'd get a spot each time. Generally, the parking lot is between the bus stop and the buildings, and the bus stops were also always fairly close to where we were staying. However, if you specifially request to be on the parking lot side of the buildings, you could end up with a view of the parking lot, as opposed to a a nicer view. I would definitely request a first floor room (though this may be slightly more noisy) Sorry if my response is a little confusing.

I don't feel that POFQ is all that expansive...especially if you request one of those closer buildings.

But you may consider SSR or OKW. Those are built more like condos, so you literally park right outside your door. Of course some buildings are closer to the lobby than others, but as far as parking, it doesn't get much better.

To save on room rate, rent DVC points from a member. A studio at either (sleeping 4) goes for 9-11 points I think. Rent points for $10 each, that's about $100/night, no taxes. For more info on renting, head over to the Rent/Trade Board.

We just stayed at POR and the parking was very close to the buildings. We stayed on the AB side and would have been just feet from a car had we rented one (this was a budget trip so no car). Buildings 14 & 15 are closest to the main building with food court and main pool. We were in bldg 15 first floor facing the parking lot, we didn't notice any excessive noise and since we don't spend a lot of awake time at our room the 'view' was not an issue for us. Another benefit to AB is that it is only 2 story so even if you don't get 1st floor there is only one flight of stairs. We were also very close to the bus stop, just had to cut across the parking lot. We were there in August and there were always plenty of available spaces.

Enjoy your planning and hope you have a great trip.

Our car was very close to our building at CSR. The parking was incredibly close to our building.

Best moderate resort for being close to parking and the food court is POFQ. The other resorts do have rooms that meet this criteria, but you have to hope for a favorable room assignment.

POR, CSR, CBR should not pose much of a problem getting a room close to parking due to their layouts. However, due to their large size, there is a very good chance you could end up a significant distance away from the food court.

With POFQ being relatively small, even if they assign you a room as far from parking and the food court as possible, the walking distance will not be that great.

I agree. We stayed in building 15 of the AB in POR and the parking lot was right next to us. We never noticed noise and rarely even saw anyone near/in their cars. There seemed to be many empty parking spots too. (We were there August 20-27.) We also cut across the parking lot to get to the bus stop...

Hope this helps!

I agree with the POFQ. We stayed there this past December and were in a first floor room in Building 1. I was litterally 2 seconds from my car. It made loading the car for the trip home VERY easy.
