Which Mod Resort do you prefer and why?

I have stayed at CBR and CSR. I like CSR better than CBR. To me the layout was confusing at CBR. We havent stayed at POR yet (although I would really like to) b/c my DBF likes the "tropical" feel both CBR and CSR offer.

At CSR, we were in cabana 9B which was really close to a bus stop and food court. However, if you are looking for a compact resort, POFQ is probably your best best. Good luck, I really don't think you can go wrong at any of the mods.

We stayed at CSR for our honeymoon, and it was great! There was a convention going on when we were ther and so the pools etc... were so quiet. Everything felt new and clean and there seemed to be fewer kids than at the other mods I've been to.

Tubachick,

I'm a paraplegic and use a wheelchair. We have always stayed in the casitas, which are not far from the main area. I can push myself easily and quickly, so if you use an ECV you will have no problems getting to the main area/bus stops quickly. If you have specific questions, feel free to PM me anytime :)

Obviously my answer is CSR. We love it because I feel since it's a convention resort it is geared more towards adults, therefore it's also quieter. The times we have been there it is quiet, peaceful, no screaming kids running amock (sp), no wild foot traffic, you get the idea :) We love the CSR and are going back in December :)

Thank you LindsayDunn228. That is exactly what I was trying to figure out. The new vacation video does not do a good job showing the layout of the resorts and I couldn't figure out which buildings were close to anything important. We were leaning towards CSR already because of the theming so I think this tips the scales. Thanks.

Our vote without a doubt would be for POFQ. Just returned from CSR and we wish you a better experience than what we had there! Sending pixie dust your way. Hopefully we were just there at a bad time (last week). :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

If i were to stay at a moderate resort, it would probably be Coronado. This is mostly because of the free use of the gym, the really cool pool with the Mayan temple, and the fact that it does not share a bus service with other resorts. If you are renting a car, the bus will not be an issue, but i've heard nightmares (from people on this board) from people waiting for quite a while for buses at Port Orleans Riverside.

I would say go through this site, and just check out which moderate strikes you as the most appealing.

We love Coronado Springs-it is our favorite!!! For many reasons-beautiful grounds and great theming, clean and comfortable rooms, relaxing atmosphere, the best theme pool and best food court, gym and spa, and a fantastic bus system-on our last 2 visits there during May and June (busy) we never waited for a bus!!....I could go on. We love it at CSR and plan to stay there again (3rd time) next May!! :sunny:

Thanks to everyone for the info, I am now sharing everything I learned her on the DIS

Thanks to everyone for the info, I am now sharing everything I learned here on the DIS :disrocks: with my MIL (since she will be sending everyone on this trip). I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again. :teeth:

Sorry for the double post, I sent it before I was done. :confused3

I like the CBR. I like that each land has its own pool. The individual pools hardly ever have anyone in them. I always pack for only a few days and do laundry 1/2 way through. Throw the wash in and relax at the pool with a drink. Then do the same with the dryer. The laundry is right at the the individual pools. We always pick a land between the Custom House and the food court.

If your going w/out your kids, make sure you request a King size bed at any of the moderates. Otherwise, you end up with two full size beds that are VERY small. Kings cost a little bit more, but worth it so you don't feel like your going to fall off the bed all night!

 19 HOURS till we arrive at CSR!

I really enjoy CBR. I love the tropical theme and the size of the resort (yes I did say the size) the size really makes it feel like a resort to me.

Here is the rest in a list:
-I like that there are only two levels to each of the buildings (vs. 3 at the others)
-I like having a quiet pool in my immediate village
-lying in a hammock at night and catching the Illuminations fireworks
-feeding the ducks/turtles/fish/other birds
-I'm addicted to the cupcakes in the food court
-Largest moderate rooms (340 sq ft)
-The wonderful landscaping (that tree (on the island) that is growing over the lake is one of my favorite landscaping items there (although I'm sure it wasn't intentional)) and walking paths
-I also like the decor in the rooms
-I also think CBR has a great location very close to MGM (less than 5 min by bus), Epcot and DTD are a hop skip and a jump away and MK and AK are not to far off either.

Our favorite moderate is CBR! We love the beautiful tropical themeing and beautiful beaches with hammocks. We love feeding the ducks while laying on the beach. We love the colorful rooms and the size of the rooms. We also love the two double sinks with storage underneath. We like to stay in the village of Jamaica and walk over the bridge to the food court and the main pool. Each village has a quiet pool and we use those alot too. The quiet pools are very peaceful and usually you have them to yourselves. The food court has great variety and there is also a sitdown restaurant. There is a really nice gift shop. The bus service has always been great. My family wouldn't stay anywhere else. We did try POR in 1999 and did not like the themeing or the bus service. But they have a boat to Downtown Disney which is really nice. Good luck on your decision. :sunny:

We like CSR the best, but the last time we stayed at CBR there was a few ducks that were going door to door looking for a handout that was pretty cool. I couldn't find ANYTHING in the room to feed them and I was bummed. Not as bummed as the ducks. When we left the next day, they had left us a little present at the foot of our door.

I love POFQ. It's the smallest and most compact of all the moderates so you don't have far to walk to anything. Building 5 and 2 are the best.

The food court is big and never really seems crowded. The theming is beautiful, with tree lined streets and in the evening the carriage comes thru the streets. It's quiet, easy to get around. It has boat service to DTD and a beautiful river to just walk around. It shares amenities with POR so if you get the benefit of having 2 different pools with slides to choose from.

I like that even though it shares a bus system with POR, POFQ gets picked up and dropped off first. Bus system is pretty prompt and efficient.

Sort of like trick or treat, eh? ;)

We were huge fans of CBR and still are, however now that we have stayed at POFQ I think it will be our moderate choice from now on. It's a beautiful resort and with it's recent room renovation it's even better. It's a small intimate resort with close walks to everything...it's right along the river which is nice and you have access to the boat to DD...which is a great ride through the woods at night. We found the food court to be excellent and although they don't have a table service restaurant on property it's a nice, short walk over to POR where we had one of our best meals all trip at Boatwright's. We too were traveling with a large group and POFQ was able to accomodate us with adjoining rooms, even though different parts of the group came in on 3 different days....be sure to mention your all together when booking and I'm sure they'll be more than happy to help. I have stayed at CBR, POR, and POFQ and don't think you can go wrong with any but so far my top vote goes to POFQ.....have a great trip! :wave2:

I have only stayed at the French Quarter, so my opinion may not make as much difference to you, but that's the moderate that I prefer.

Simply because it's the least spread out moderate resort! :)

I also like the boat to Downtown Disney, and the grounds are so pretty.

The ONLY thing I don't like about it (besides the exterior corridors which are at ALL of the moderates) is that it has no sit down restaurant.

Have a fantastic free trip! :)

I think it's great that the opinions are so evenly distributed among which mod is the best. I'm glad we're not all fighting to stay at the same one. That said, my fav is POR followed by CBR. I didn't care too much for the theming of POFQ or CSR (although I heard it's better at night - we visited during the day)

We LOVE POFQ. Yes, it is the only mod resort we have stayed at but I can't imagine how any of the others can be better. Here's my list of WHY we LOVE POFQ....
1. It's small. No matter where you are (although building 3 or 4..they are the closest) you are just a short walk from the pool and main building and bus stop.

2. There is only 1 bus stop. The buses are plentiful. POFQ is the FIRST stop for buses going to the parks and the FIRST stop for buses coming back from the parks. It's the BEST!!

3. the pool...Is HUGE with very cute decorations. It has a large slide (made from an actual Mardi Gras float) and lots of fun "gators" around the pool shooting water or under the water fall. The pool is huge but doesn't get over 5 ft deep. They provide you with towels and life jackets for the kids. Also the Mardi Grogs Pool Bar is GREAT!!!!

4. The Rooms are beautifully decorated and include a hair dryer and ironing board. (who irons on vacation??...Me unfortunately :rotfl: ) They also include a fridge. The rooms are super quite. I never heard one flushing toliet. Mousekeeping is WONDERFUL.

5. The ability to take a boat to POR or DTD. POFQ doesn't have a TS resturant they only have the food court (but the food is good there) so you can hop on a boat over to POR to eat at Boatwrights or just to see the other resort. (which is beautiful..but too big if you ask me) We LOVE taking the boat to DTD. It's a 15-20 min very relaxing ride.

I'm sure there are more things I could say as to why I love POFQ..but you get the idea here. I don't think we will ever stay anywhere else.

I hope you have a great vacation!!!!
