Which Mod. Priced Wdw Resort Should I Choose

It depends on the theme that you prefer. Although I like all of the moderates, CBR is my least favorite. I think CSR is my favorite, but we really like POR both POR and POFQ.

Good luck!

since csr is a convention resort are the swimming pools or grounds a little less crowded during the day when those poor people are working

we are planing early may of 2008 we are 8 famlies ranging in age from 6 to 93so we kind of cover it all it sounds like the cbr is out because of the pol rehab the kids really love the pools and it gives us older folks time for our afternoon nap in the sun we usually need it

Don't forget that the CBR has a quiet pool in each village. From what I understand, they will be installing slides in each of the quiet pools.

Exactly! That's one of the perks. The pools and buses are usually less crowded because of the conventions. The bigger the better.

I'd recommend POR. It has a lovely family atmosphere. It has a great food court, a nice indoor lounge, and Boatwright's (table service) dining hall, as well.
Fulton's general store is well stocked, gifts, lots of snacks and some reasonably priced wines. Add in plenty of pools, boat and bike rentals, opportunities to fish, and the boat to downtown Disney and you've got yourself a wonderful vacation....and that's just in the resort.

We've stayed at PO, POFQ & CS & all are nice but we prefer CS. Port Orleans (which was Dixie Landing when we were there in 2000) looks just like the area near Wilmington, North Carolina where we live. We don't want our Disney World resort to look like our real home, sorry. NOFQ is beautiful & I love it, but the pool theming there is for little kids and is fabulous for them but my 10 & 12 year olds want nothing to do with it, and I have no interest in having to walk to the pool at PO constantly. CSR is gorgeous with beautiful landscaping & looks nothing like NC, plus it has a great pool, which the kids love. We all love CSR!

A huge difference in the resorts is buses -- the ones at CS were never crowded when we were there last month (July), even though the resort was full. The convention there the week we were there (school resource officers) had 1500 attendees and clearly they did not use the buses. But when we stayed at PO every bus was packed, always. Buses were better at POFQ than PO, but only because the shared PO/POFQ buses stopped at POFQ bus stops first, so we got seats.

csr sounds like the place for me now i have to convince my daughter she is the vacation general and has final say

how soon do we need to book our rooms for early may should we do it now or wait for the discounts to come out

I have never stayed moderate but for our upcoming the hubby and I are staying at CSR. You should check out the CSR Thread. There are lots of photos and info being discussed. Thanks to Buzz, our CSR expert here I am now convinced that I have made the right choice.

I would book it now to secure a room at CSR and then if a code comes out early next year for May, call back to get the discount.

I would book now, especially if you are going thru disney travel- that way you have until 45 days before your trip to pay it off- like having a vacation on layaway- ha.. Also if any codes or discounts come out you can call disney and they will apply it to your bill.

My choice:

1.CBR - laid back, beach area, not too shiny but colorful, swimming pool
2.POR - laid back, quiet, wood decor
3.POFQ - pool slide, bakery,
4.CSR - sorry, I've never stayed this but it does not click me. Looks so cheap...

Definitely book now. CSR fills up quickly and this way you will have a room reserved. Then if/when the code comes out, you can call back to add it to your room.

thanks everyone for all the help i will point my daughter in the direction of this thread and as soon as she tells me when i'm going we can get this done should we start looking for airfare now or wait
