I'm trying to decide where to stay next December and I need some more info! I love the look of CBR because I live quite far from the beach and the theme appeals to be. It's not something I see every day where I am!

I have heard good things about the Port Orleans resorts, but am not leaning toward those as much as I am CBR. This is a silly, nit-picking thing, but I saw a picture of the POFQ bed-spreads and thought they were an eyesore, so that was kind of a turn off!! (Please don't give me a hard time about that, as it's JMHO!!! :rotfl: ) I've read that one of the PO resorts has a boat to take you from the resort to downtown disney and that is appealing!

CSR doesn't really appeal to me. I think it is beautiful, but if I want that atmosphere I feel like I can go to a mexican full service restaurant here! (Again, JMHO)

Also, does anyone know which mod is more centrally located at WDW?? I wish I could find a map showing where all the resorts are located in relation to the parks.

Something else, I'm interested in is the location of the bus stops when leaving the parks. We stayed at POP a few weeks ago and the walk from EPCOT to the bus stop seemed like an eternity!!

I'm not trying to be picky (although it might sound like it). I'm just trying to get more information before I make a decision!!

Thanks :goodvibes

You DO know that you can't use the beaches, swim I mean at any of the Disney hotels correct?

CBR is a nice resort, and PO is really nice. It is nice to be able to take the boat from PO around. IT is something different to do. I di CBR when my kids were 8 and 10 and then two years later. We liked it. It is spread out pretty much but it is nice. At PO for me ( a short person) the beds seemed pretty high. I kept hitting my shin. Good restaurant and atmosphere at PO. It is difficult to determine where to stay. My son works for Disney and he helps us get a good rate on hotels. I am thinking next time down to try to stay at AKL. Don't know. Good luck with your decision.:flower3:

We just returned from POR and it was so Beautiful (we LOVED IT!)
We had stayed and CSR last year and it was also very pretty in
in own way.

We will be stayinig at POFQ for next years trip because we were able to visit
it from POR and loved the quant charm of it.
Whenever I first saw the picture of POR room I wasn't sure about the the
look of it but the pictures didn't do it justice.

The room was very nicely decorated, the bedspread looked to be brand new.
My DH who lets me plan our WDW trips and knows nothing about any of the resorts, thought that I had decided to stay at a Deluxe Resort this trip because he compared POR to CSR.

When I told him that POR was also a MOD he could not believe it.
I also was able to talk with another guest staying at POR at the same time as us and she told me that they had spent one day at CBR and was able to switch to POR. She told me that CBR looked like it could be a Value and that they were so happy that they were able to switch at the last second.
I guess it just depends on what style you like.

The Boat to DTD was wonderful and we rode it several times.
The Boat also goes between POR and POFQ so that you can eat at any of the
resaurants or use the others pools--which we did one morning.

We have stayed at both 3 times each and we love the POR. It has a great food court, huge gift shop, beautiful grounds.

I've stayed at CBR and POR both. I'd go back to CBR in a heartbeat. Not so much POR. I just didn't like it as much.

I am the opposite. I've been to both and would return to POR in a heartbeat, no plans to return to CBR. Just wasn't up to a moderate standard for me.

We have stayed at both and I found CBR too be too big and spread out. Our room was also dirty. We stayed there once and have never been back. Before our kids were born and we use to stay at POFQ and we loved it. It is smalled than POR and we just liked the feel of the place. POR would be my 2nd choice after POFQ. Last choice would be CBR.

Ok, now you all are just confusing me!!!! I'M TEASING!!!! :lmao:
Thanks for the input!!!

I know that CBR is very spread out so I will book a preferred room. We did that at POP a few weeks ago and it was the room up the closest staircase and then the first room you came to! We were very pleased!

Even better would be a preferred room with a king bed!

If I was choosing a moderate my first choice would be POR, followed by CBR, POFQ, and CSR. CBR is a HUGE resort and there is a lot of walking involved from most rooms. The Alligator Bayou section of POR is more appealing to me because I like rustic hotels. :)

I guess we're weird. My whole family loved it and had no problem with the "spread outness" of it. I guess walking doesn't bother us ~ maybe why I'm so comfortable in NYC...I walk everywhere.

CBR is nice with a great pool, but Port Orleans is one of my favorite of all the resorts in Disney, especially FQ.

When did this happen?

I used to love swimming in the lake at Grand Floridian. Granted, that was a number of years ago. I'm assuming, too dirty now since they're not natural?

Must have been many many years ago, I know there have been signs up for at least 14 years (I remember being at CBR - and kids could not go near water).

Am sure there are many reasons, but the main one seems to be the very dangerous amoeba that lives in Florida's lakes. Hot there and this bacteria flourishes. I believe there have been two kids this summer alone who have died from them. And I think both were Orlando area. They are more prevalent in the most shallow water, so obviously going in from the beach would not be safe.

Thanks, filling me in.

Yea, wow, I didnt realize, but I guess it has been about that long. When it comes to Disney, can't say time has ever gone slow....!

We have stayed at POR Alligator Bayou twice and CBR once. I have to say POR AB section was my favorite of the two. I also liked the gift shop at POR much better. We will be trying CSR Dec. 8-14th :cool1:
