Just putting the finishing touches to our plan and need to ask everyone for their opinions - we're not going to spend too much time (or too much of my money...) on shopping, and I am therefore wondering what malls you would recommend?

We have nothing specific to buy (apart from a watch for me but that was another thread!) so I was thinking that either/both Belz and Florida Mall might be good options.

Anyone care to suggest any others? Is The Mall at Millenia going to be wasted if we're just browsing? By the way I'll have 2 teenage girls in tow.......and all that entails/costs!:p

At Burdines in the Florida Mall, you can get a card which gives you an extra 11% discount on all the clothes, if you are an international visitor.

If that helps your decision at all <g>. We spent heaps in there, as they had a big sale on, and the savings were fantastic.

I'd recommend the Altamonte Mall. We also got a 10% discount card for tourists there.

I have teenage daughters as well ..... one of who lives to shop!!

You might want to consider the Premium Outlet Mall. Has DKNY, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and a host of names that the teenagers will recognise! If you belong to the AA in the UK, ring them up to get an AAA card from them. It gives you a discount voucher there (plus a discount at various hotels & restaurants in Florida - plus discounted tickets to Universal & Sea World), or if you are not, pick up one of the little discount booklets that are readily available at almost any venue on the 192. Take your card or voucher to the Information Desk in the food court and you get a booklet with BIG discounts.

There is also the Lake Buena Vista - has Gap, Old Navy, Nine West - need I go on? You can easily get a way with just a couple of hours here, and there is also a discount coupon. There is no discount on sales goods, but you get a 15% discount on Gap for example. Here's a link http://www.lbvfs.com/mall/Designers.asp

We went to the Millenia Mall and Miss "I was born to shop" just loved it - in fact she has suggested dropping the florida mall in favour of this. I think as we were there in January at sale time this probably has alot to do with it, because she came away with loads of bargains. So it's first on the list of things for us to do at Christmas!

Both the Premium Outlet Mall and Lake Buena Vista Outlets are much newer and nicer than Belz IMHO. Of the two, I think the Premium Outlet Mall has the edge.

The new Festival Bay at the top of I-Drive opposite Belz is now open, although there weren't many shops actually trading when we were there in May.

We still like the Florida Mall, especially the newer wing, but Mall at Millenia is the dog's whatsits! I don't think you'd be wasting your time there. Amongst all the designer stores are the usual suspects such as Gap, Banana Republic, Vicoria's Secret, Ambercrombie and Fitch, et al. And the department stores are great. I would say Macy's is the cheapest, followed by Bloomingdale's and then Neiman Marcus (which doesn't accept credit cards, btw). My teenage daughters <i>love</i> Lucky Jeans, but it is pricey. They have a website which you can check out. And then there's the food! Don't get me started on the food! Oh, go on then. Of the full service eateries, we have tried The Cheesecake Factory (3 times!) and Brio Tuscan Grill. Both fab, but no prizes for guessing which is my favourite. PF Chang's and McCormick and Schmick's are both highly rated and are on the list for next time. We haven't eaten at the food court, but we have taken a good look around. It is immaculately clean and beautifully bright and all the offerings looked more than appetising.

Is it lunchtime yet?

I would vote for the Premium Outlet Mall and Belz for shopping. IMHO the individual shops (as opposed to the actual "mall" which I thought was looking a bit tacky and tatty) in the Belz area have some pretty good deals. For casual clothes there are often some great things at the World of Denim/Denim World outlets.

The Mall at the Millenium is an experience and certainly worth a visit to window shop. Some nice restaurants as well. Hide all credit cards and claim they're lost when you visit though ROFLMAO.

As a 16 year old teenage girl i would say the orlando premium outlets is definatly worth a stop. in the last two years i have been i have bought all my clothes from there. unless your daughters are sporty i would say give the belz shopping outlet a miss as the only thing that we stop there for is the nike outlet.

Having just returned here is my 2 cents.

Premium wins by decree my 2 experts , Mrs & Miss Kyle, at least going by the amount of time and money they spent there

Florida for me, simply because CompUSA, Best Buys and Circit city are around the corner.

I though Beltz mall 1 & 2 looked a bit shabby with lots of empty units (a lot more than last Aug)

We got back last week and were impressed by the Mall at Millenia. My wife was even more impressed when an assistant at the check-out at Macy's told us that we should go and get their International Visitor's Card which gives 11% off everything, even sale prices. We were then given a retrospective discount for the purchases we'd made earlier in the day, so naturally this set off yet another round of spend, spend, spend. I hadn't heard of this (or Burdine's) discount before we left, so you should probably ask at all of the big department stores. As said by many above, Premium Outlets is very good also.
