which is the more romantic hotel???

I have never stayed at the GF, but I love the Poly. DF and I are staying at the Poly for our Disneymoon. I am sure the GF is very nice, but we like the tropical theme of the Poly and most of the rooms have recently been refurbished. There are many secluded spots around the grounds that are very romantic. I am sure this is just a matter of opinion, can you really go wrong w/ a WDW resort? You may want to ask on the Resorts board :)

I think when it comes to romance, the GF can't be beat!! :cloud9: We have stayed at both, and I wasn't too impressed with the Poly. I thought it felt old, it hadn't changed since I was a little girl.

DF and I absolutely love the GF, he won't stay anywhere else now. The cabanas that you can rent now add a little privacy to laying out by the pool. We love that you can ride the boat or the monorail to the parks, and it is so nice to rent a water mouse or pontoon for just a lazy morning on the water, just the 2 of you.... :lovestruc We also love the "Victorian" theme to the hotel, it is just so elegant.

Hope this helps...

I have never stayed at the Poly but I stayed at the GF for my Disney Wedding and honeymoon last December and absolutley loved it. It was so romantic and relaxing. We were there 2 weeks and I refused to go to the check out counter with my husband because I did not want to leave. We both love the Victorian style and in December it was just stunning. We came back many nights to the lobby via monorail and got to walk by this enormous tree, the gingerbread house, all the wreaths and garland...it was just incredible. Plus, the turn down service and lagoon view (if you book a lagoon view)...HEAVEN!! Not sure if we can afford it this year but we don't want to stay anywhere else, it was just that good.

However, alot of people love the Poly. It does seem very relaxing also and laying on the beach in a hammock drinking out of a coconut does look nice also. Good luck with your choice.

Have A Magical Day!

It so depends on personal preference. I would probably say GF, but if the thought of Tahiti and those other wonderful islands is your idea of romantic, I would go with Poly.

Grand Floridian? Or Polynesian?

I'm a Grand Floridian girl all the way. That is the first place that I stayed in, and it is where my family's love of WDW vacations began. I chose to stay there during my vow renewal, even though I had a series of rooms booked at the BoardWalk (including a room for myself). I just couldn't go through with a fairy tale anything without staying in my favorite resort.

Now, with that being said, I will be staying at the Poly for the first time on my upcoming vacation. I am very much looking forward to it. But I should note that I will also be staying at the Grand Floridian during that vacation. I just couldn't give up my home away from home. ;)

No matter where you choose to honeymoon, I hope you have a ~magical~ time.

We stayed at the Poly for 2 days of our honeymoon. We stayed in the Hawaii building concierge and had a WONDERFUL time. The staff was fabulous and we really loved the new rooms. I am in the process of downloading pictures and should have them for people to view soon. We had a great view of a couple getting married! Can't beat it that is for sure! I have pictures of that if someone got married on the 19th.
