which one you 'd choose between halloween horror nigts and mickey not so scary halloween and why?

i haven't done HHN yet but have heard a lot about it and hope to make it there someday.

HHN will be mobbed with teens and young adults (mostly) and a lot of drinking. it's also 'no holds barred' on the horror / scary stuff.

i'm not sure how it compares to fright nights at six flags, but i have the impression it's a bit more serious than they are.

i definitely wouldn't be taking small kids to it.

they are 2 completely different events. Halloween Horror Nights has a bunch of 'haunted' houses that you walk through and scareactors jump out at you from left and right. It is mostly teens and adults, and most are drinking. They suggest not bringing anyone under 13, and costumes are not allowed.

On the other hand, Mickey's party is kids (and adults!) trick or treating, parades, shows and fireworks. People of all ages are wearing costumes and it is very family friendly.

We have gone to both events and enjoy both, however, we won't be going to HHN this year for various reasons. It is just me and my DH though, no kids.

Been to Universal HHN's 3 times. It is pretty, no very, intense. Crowds are primarily teens but that does not mean that its a bad thing just that they are teens. MNSSHP is really geared for family's and is a lot more tame than HHN. Choose depending on your age/family's age. HHN is a gas but as I said earlier it is very intense. MNSSHP is a lot of fun and Disney does the family friendly stuff really well. We have been to MNSSHP 3x and once with grandchildren who loved everything except the Headless Horseman's ride down Mainstreet.

It depends on what you're looking for.

If you want a fun-filled, family-friendly Halloween event, go to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

If you want a more grown-up Halloween event with lots of scares and adult-oriented shows, go to Halloween Horror Nights.

I personally loved them both last year! I'm making a special trip this year just for HHN, but we'll be at Disney for a week in May. I would love to go back to MNSSHP this year as well, but I have a feeling not much has changed since last year. HHN, however, is completely different every year.

I personally would not be able to survive HHN. I was just able to watch the whole HM! We'll stick with MNSSHP!

I have no interest in HHN whatsoever. If I had the choice of being at an event that centered around horror, fright, and demon type creatures or going to WDW with the Mickey gang, trick or treating, riding and being in a happy atmosphere......WDW wins - no thought involved.

Are you looking to have nightmares afterward or family fun time?

If you enjoy being scared out of your wits and being chased with chainsaws, I'd go with HHN. Definitely more adult-themed...

If you have youngsters, or prefer to keep your voice, go to MNSSHP. Kid-friendly, trick-or-treating, and no screaming as one runs away from the scare-actors...

I would prefer HHN, but we will have our DS with us, and while I can handle one or two haunted houses, strobe lights and I do not get along and I wouldn't be able to handle much more. Now, if they had the Freddy Krueger/Jason/Pinhead thing going on again this year, strobe lights be darned to heck! I loves me some Freddy Krueger... :lovestruc

Yes, I'm sick and twisted... :rotfl:

I'd pick HHN. I don't have kids. I'm not a kid. I don't really go for fluffy Halloween stuff (though the free candy is nice. ;) ) I want to be scared and freaked out. I want liquor. I want people jumping out and trying to get me. I want an adult Halloween. I wouldn't take any kids under 12 to HHN. I wouldn't take most 12-15 year olds to HHN. But like I say, as an adult traveling with another adult, when the time comes to plunk down the $$$, we pick HHN.

Halloween Horror Nights scared the pants off me and I am 34 y/o.I just don't like the whole "jump out at you and chase you thing".Many people ( like my SIL) absolutely love it.But I would say no one under 15y/o and definitely not even then if they scare easy. There was alot of drinking around( not that I mind)but not really a kid friendly environment.

Halloween Horror Nights is okay if you want to be scared out of your mind.:scared1: Personally I would be scared out of my pants.:lmao: Keep it mild and not too wild, that is my motto.

HHN scared the living beejeezus out of me. I was...22 when I went... it was me and my mom and she LOOOVES scary stuff and getting chased after, etc... I, on the other hand, was HORRIFIED. I won't do haunted houses or anything of that nature, although I was amused by the Bill & Ted show that they had. That alone was worth the price of admission IMHO. I've been to Fright Fest at Six Flags many times, and even that couldn't prepare me for what a literal nightmare HHN was going to be.

Next time, I think i'll still with MNSSHP.

I have a very negative view on HHN. I went last year, and it was the only time I've been. Granted, we went on a Saturday which was a bad idea in the first place. It was so insanely crowded. We waited over two hours for ONE haunted house that was not that spectacular. I felt like I was being herded all night, and I had someone throw up next to us in line and she kept walking like nothing had ever happened.

I don't scare easily, and I don't really have a problem with the "scary" things, and maybe I just had a single bad experience, but honestly, three days after we went to HHN, we went to MNSSHP for the first time and it won hands down. The atmosphere, the fireworks, the parade, and the overall experience was just better.

Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday. I'm game for anything involving halloween, but I was just not impressed with HHN.

We now only go on vacation in October so we can do HHN and MNSSHP.
I love both to death. Went for the first time to HHN 5 years ago and DH and I have been hooked. If you go get there early, buy express passes and you will have a great night. We never waited more than 20 minutes in any line. But I sure did see alot of sorry looking folks who did not have express passes
waiting over hour to get in. Bill and Teds is incredibly funny and I loved Rocky horror picture show last year. It did get extremely crowded the later it got, I say around 10:00p.m. it was a mob scene, but thankfully due to our express passes we were on our way out. Go on a Thursday or Sunaday night, less crowded.

MNSSHP very different, but very lighthearted and fun. You can get in at 4:30 with your ticket. We take advantage of that instead of giving a whole day to Magic Kingdom. Also, don't plan anything that day, take it easy so you are well rested that night. Trick or treating was fun, Parade was great and fireworks were awesome!!

We would not go to Orlando anf not do both.

P.S. We are taking my brother this year who is 15, would not take any younger. We are getting Kids nite out for the 12 yo and 7 yo.

I'll make it short and sweet...

Halloween Horror Nights is a SCARY, INTENSE, NIGHTMARISH, and TERRIFYING gore-fest that brings the scariest movies to life. It's fun...if you're into screaming your head off and don't mind some gorn-o and blood. Teenagers will like it better.

The Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is true to it's name--it's very mild. But it has advantages to HHN. First of all, you can go dressed up in your Halloween costumes! That's good for kids. It's good for everybody, though, that you can 'trick-or-treat'! Every land has at least two candy-stops where you can ask for candy as many times as you want, and get tons, while staying up late and riding rides. Disney also offers a special fireworks show and parade. It's better for families.

HHN will thrill you, Not-So-Scary will charm you (and stuff you). If you've got teens, head over to HHN. If not, Not-So-Scary is for you. And if it's just the parents, I'd say HHN at Universal...it's the opposite of kid-friendly.

These are two completely different events.

MNSSHP great for kids, especially little kids.

Universal..great for big kids. I would never take a little kid.

Now, if you are a group of adults that love halloween, I would do both, as they are totally different and both would be fun.

MNSSHP and HHN can't be compared,Disney's event is nice and adults and kids will enjoy it but HHN is an amazing Halloween event with some of the best created haunted houses and scare zones. They create an amazing atmosphere with everything from fog machines, fire, strobe lights, lasers and even the year they had an entire street 6 foot deep in foam.It is the premier Halloween event in the country.Knott's berry farm in California is known for having a very good Halloween event,Knott's Scary Farm, as well as Busch Gardens in Tampa with their Howl-O-Scream event but believe me neither one compares to what Universal has every year.I've been going since the second year the event was held so I'm up to 17 years now and I've seen the amount of people that go to this event probably increase 100 times over,it's gotten that popular.

Two totally different events, but as it's just me and DH,HHN is the event we're going to this year. Very adult orientated and scary, I can't wait!

HHN is great if you're into the scary stuff, but it's rather expensive to begin with, and the only way to see the majority of the houses and ride the rides w/o spending lots of time in line is to get the express pass which makes it very expensive. It's kind of designed to make it impossible to see and do it all in one night, thus encouraging locals and others to do repeat visits.
